Okay? Except I never commented on your opinion, nor was it the aim of my "objective" claim. Again, for the umpteenth time, it's the *act* needing everyone to know that you're not going to see a movie, before seeing a single frame of it, that I was calling "performative." Which is totally different than saying "I don't like your opinion" or "Your opinion is wrong."
Ehhhh, here's my stance on this take....IMO, (not going to call it an objective fact, just my opinion), the point of this board is to 1) spread information on Entertainment and 2) share our opinions about it and discuss those opinions.
Now, #2 above
can at times get redundant. For example, if 50 other separate posters followed up Cinco's post by posting essentially the same thing, that's kind of silly and performative of them. Ideally, they should just blue star his post as their endorsement and agreement of that opinion.
However, to say it's wrong of him to express his opinion of the trailer and press releases surrounding the movie is well,....wrong in itself. That's the point of movie trailers and pre-release press. The trailers and press are all designed specifically so we can judge whether we want to see the movie or not.
If he's being performative by stating he doesn't plan to see it, then so are the other posters who use their posts to proudly proclaim how open-minded and progressive they are by not being judgemental of it. IMO, performative or not, not only is it OK to share opinions on here, but its essentially the point. Getting scolded on here for sharing a negative opinion of a show, movie, or a trailer is starting to get tiresome.
