I really think we might very well be in for one of the most satisfying summers in blockbuster history...
- Rave reactions so far for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (just posted in the Marvel thread).
- Rave reactions so far for The Flash as well. Tom Cruise, of all people, even flipped out for it. Not to mention, Warner Bros is screening it for press at ComicCon this Tuesday, seven weeks before it hits theaters, which shows all kinds of confidence.
- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is not only screening at Cannes, seven weeks early as well, but Lucasfilm just gave writer/director James Mangold a Star Wars movie, both of which indicate their confidence and a home run.
- Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is unsurprisingly rumored to be incredible, based on test screening reactions, never mind the fact that it's Chris McQuarrie returning (who wrote/directed the last two installments).
- IMO, Nolan never misses, and Oppenheimer looks to continue that trend. That, and for what it's worth, star Matt Damon has seen it and seems genuinely blown away (i.e. not just blowing smoke).
Also… Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Barbie, Asteroid City, etc.
I was already stoked, simply based on the slate itself, but now that it's actually looking like all the big hitters this summer might actually deliver, and deliver big, I could not be more excited for the next few months. It's all going to be so damn fun.
