I really think we might very well be in for one of the most satisfying summers in blockbuster history...

- Rave reactions so far for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (just posted in the Marvel thread).

- Rave reactions so far for The Flash as well. Tom Cruise, of all people, even flipped out for it. Not to mention, Warner Bros is screening it for press at ComicCon this Tuesday, seven weeks before it hits theaters, which shows all kinds of confidence.

- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is not only screening at Cannes, seven weeks early as well, but Lucasfilm just gave writer/director James Mangold a Star Wars movie, both of which indicate their confidence and a home run.

- Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is unsurprisingly rumored to be incredible, based on test screening reactions, never mind the fact that it's Chris McQuarrie returning (who wrote/directed the last two installments).

- IMO, Nolan never misses, and Oppenheimer looks to continue that trend. That, and for what it's worth, star Matt Damon has seen it and seems genuinely blown away (i.e. not just blowing smoke).

Also… Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Barbie, Asteroid City, etc.

I was already stoked, simply based on the slate itself, but now that it's actually looking like all the big hitters this summer might actually deliver, and deliver big, I could not be more excited for the next few months. It's all going to be so damn fun.

Also, with CinemaCon this week, and GoTG3 premiering next week, the blockbuster trailer deluge is about to begin.

One of my favorite movie times of the year.

Over the next ten days, between tomorrow and next Thursday, though not all are guaranteed, we could see trailers for...

- Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (Teaser Trailer)
- Dune: Part Two (Teaser Trailer)
- The Flash (Trailer 2)
- The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Teaser Trailer)
- Killers of the Flower Moon (Teaser Trailer)
- Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (Trailer 2)
- Napoleon (Teaser Trailer)
- Oppenheimer (Full Trailer)
- Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (Full Trailer)
- Wonka (Teaser Trailer)

If at least Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One or Oppenheimer don't get you excited, I don't know what to tell you. And I totally get having superhero fatigue, but if they're good movies they're good movies.

The wife and I are excited for this one the most. We've been doing a full MISSION IMPOSSIBLE series rewatch. Just finished MI:2 and omg has this franchise come quite a long way. So much campy slomo.

Same, we don't get to a lot of movies with a toddler and one on the way but this is one we will 100% be in the theater for.

It's funny how different the first two films are, then 3 started to turn the corner and it's been lights out amazing since 4.

I'm excited by all those things except the Indiana Jones news. Kathleen Kennedy gave Rian Johnson a trilogy before The Last Jedi came out, and we know how that went…

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull also premiered at Cannes…

I'm hesitantly hopeful but realistically prepared for this movie haha.

James Mangold's last two movies are Ford v Ferrari and Logan. He also wrote/directed Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma. You really think he's going to screw this up? Especially after all the lessons learned from Crystal Skull? The dude is on fire right now, and every indication so far points to a winner with Indy.

I'm just saying that I'm I'm hesitantly hopeful but realistically prepared for this movie to disappoint.

Rian Johnson is/was a stellar director when he mad The Last Jedi as well. I'm just tempering my expectations until something outside of Lucasfilm or Cannes indicates this is special.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course in regards to Rian Johnson's SW movie, but I think its a safe to say that this type of movie is more in Mangold's wheelhouse than a major Star Wars blockbuster was in Johnson's wheelhouse prior to Kennedy picking him to direct The Last Jedi. Straightforward popcorn fan-service blockbusters have never been Johnson's forte. Meanwhile Mangold has shown he's up for an Indiana Jones type movie. I have faith in Mangold.

This seems interesting but I feel like they gave away most of the plot already.
