The diner scene looks exactly like the diner from Baby Driver

Sounds like a bad childhood nickname. "Remember the guy who won the 98 state swim meet? Ricky "Fishback" Jones?"

With Dune movie to Oct. 22nd, here's a killer release schedule right now:

Sept. 24th - Venom: Let There be Carnage
Oct. 8th - No Time to Die
Oct. 15th - Halloween Kills
Oct. 22nd - Dune
Nov. 5th - Eternals
Nov. 11th - Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Nov 19th - Top Gun: Maverick
Dec. 10th - West Side Story
Dec. 17th - Spider Man: No Way Home
Dec 22nd - Matrix 4

Can all of these movies being released so close together thrive or will they all cannibalize each other? I have never in my life seen a lineup of blockbusters scheduled all in a tight three-month timeline.

In a normal time, every one of these movies (except Halloween Kills) would be a guaranteed $200 million domestic box office. Easy. Many of these would do double that.

Now, I wonder if half of these will crack $150 million simply because of the unusual time of year and the constant week-after-week competition opening.

My kind of post.

Not to mention...

10.15 - The Last Duel (Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, dir. Ridley Scott)
10.22 - The French Dispatch (Wes Anderson, awesome ensemble cast)
10.22 - Jackass 4
10.22 - Last Night in Soho (dir. Edgar Wright)
11.19 - King Richard (Will Smith as Richard Williams, father of Serena and Venus)
12.03 - Nightmare Alley (dir. Guillermo del Toro, awesome ensemble cast)

None of the above are likely to be $100M earners, obviously, but they're still big enough to further take away box office from many of the others you mentioned.

Overall, some of them may indeed lose, but regardless... we all win. This fall/holiday theater-going season is going to be sooo fun.

I was thinking it was just kind of terrible photo choices all around.

Isn't THe Last Duel actually written by Affleck/Damon as well?

edit: Looked it up, it is, and it also has Adam Driver in it. I could see it getting a lot of promotion just because they are in a movie together again AND wrote it together again.

The guys are fine, but yeah, those might be the most unflattering pictures ever taken of both Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde

Yep on all accounts. Could be relatively big. Will definitely get the press, that's for sure.

- Dune
- The French Dispatch
- Jackass 4
- Last Night in Soho

If this weekend actually holds, as a dumb little exercise, I'm debating when and where I would see what, and I think I have it settled. And for the record, this order doesn't reflect my order of interest (Dune being my most anticipated)...

Thursday night at the Landmark, my favorite "indie" theater =
The French Dispatch

Friday night at ArcLight Hollywood (assuming they reopen) =
Last Night in Soho

Saturday afternoon at the Chinese Theater IMAX =
Dune

Sunday afternoon at the AMC Century City 16 =
Jackass 4

That said, A&M plays South Carolina that Saturday, and depending on kick off, that could potentially throw a wrench in things. For whatever reason, though, I just love seeing big blockbusters opening weekend on Saturday afternoon. It's one if my favorite things to do, but in this instance, the Aggies come first.

Anyone else potentially going to try to knock out all four in one weekend?
