While this wasn't a time travel show, there was absolutely elements of it.

Bent-neck-lady visiting Nell multiple times.

"Welcome home Nell" on the walls.

Etc...

Just finished it. I agree there were definite time travel elements, but they were never really fleshed out. The Bent-neck lady and Nell's explanation of the dominoes in the last episode clearly were pointing to time travel. I wish they would have explained that element a little more.

And Abigail's mom and dad (the caretaker's of the house) were real, correct? And Abigail was real all along until she died at the end? So the caretakers wanted the house to remain so that they could still hang out with the ghost of Abigail?

Thanks, that's what I thought after watching it. As it was playing out, I was going back and forth a little.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but was surprised to learn that young Hugh was Elliott in E.T.
WHAT?! No Blankin way!

At A&M early 90's , Henry Thomas was at Blinn because he was dating an Aggie. We met him several times around town.

I really enjoyed the show but did anybody else think the actor playing older Hugh was absolutely terrible? His delivery of the lines seemed so bland.
mhayden

I actually thought younger Hugh was the worst actor of the bunch - just a little too "everything is fine there is a logical explanation for all of this nothing to see here!" for me.

Older Hugh was definitely bland, but you could make a case that because of what he's seen and what he's protecting his children from that he's not really socially comfortable.

I literally screamed while watching that part. That is probably the best jump care I've ever seen given how unexpected it was.

I watch a lot of horror, and I'm generally pretty immune to jump scares, but that one got me good.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up. A scare so good you end up laughing at yourself for how scared you were. My wife and I both screamed. And what's great about that scene (and the series) there was a reason for it, not just a cheap jump scare. Ghost Nell doesn't like the sisters fighting, just like knocking over the casket in the funeral home, because the family was fighting.

Yup... Just lulls you in with sister-sister dialogue then BAM.

I screamed like a little girl.

Just finished. Blown away. Great story. The ending was a little scattered but I get the intention...still good.

Episodes 4 thru 8. About as good as it gets for a tv show. Brilliant

I'm super impressed with Aaron Rodgers playing the junkie brother. I mean, I know he did the insurance ads, but never thought he'd be a good actor.
actually, I thought he looked like Trevor Knight. Luke's episode was easily my favorite!

Yeah luke's episode was really good. But my favorite character was Nell, her story got me.

The great thing about this show was that this could've easily been made into a movie. But having ten episodes (ten hours) to develop the characters/story is what really makes it special. You start to care about the characters and get sucked into the storyline. A 1.5-2 hour movie just wouldn't have done this story justice.

It's already been a movie twice, a third would've been redundant!

Agreed. I went back and re-watched last night after reading that article. It completely changed the way I watched the scene, knowing how much was going on just off-camera. I also completely missed that there was no cut between the walk from the funeral home to the Hill house the first time through.

The whole series of 10 episodes was amazing. I rarely get sucked into shows, but I binged this one in two days. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but the fact that they used suspense and drama rather than gore is really appreciated. The scene with the tall man and Luke under the bed literally had me holding my breath, unknowingly.

Loved the series.

The car scene made me jump higher than I can remember! Perfect timing!

Just finished it. Absolutely entertained. No gripes other than... it almost didn't need to be a horror story. The horror element gave a handy crutch to the emotional and psychological traumas the family was dealing with, but it was almost gratuitous. That said, it was splendidly creepy and I was truly impressed with it. Thought the ending was completely satisfying.

Finished this morning and really liked it. Episode 6 when they all came together in the funeral home was one of the best episodes of a show I've seen in awhile.

late to the party but finished season 1 today...WOW. Great show. It was a bit slow at times as they developed the characters but overall...fantastic.
Please tell me there's a special place in Heaven for Aggie fans! It's like we are living some sort of penance on Earth.

The character development was as if you were reqding a book. You just can't developer characters in 1.5 hours like you can in either in a novel or series. I hope all novels go this route so the story isn't cheapened by an arbitrarily set timeline that has nothing to do with the actual story

It's what they should've done with Ready Player One instead of that crap movie they put out.
mhayden
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Were they going to add character development to Ready Player One? Cause the book sure didn't have any.

It was a fun read for nostalgia sake, but the praise the Ready Player One book gets continues to amaze me -- it's written like a Young Adult novel.

Halfway through ep3. Took me a while but digging it now that I can actually tell the three sisters apart.

Ready Player One is a young adult novel in my eyes. I don't think that makes it bad, it's just junk food as far as books go. Did a decent enough job with Wade and Halliday, but the rest are fairly shallow.

If anyone were to ask me I'd say the way to consume Ready Player One would be through the Wil Wheaton audio book. If I had to actually sit down and read it I don't think I'd make it through.

All in on this show.

I like how each of the first five eps has focused on a different sibling. Has a very LOST feel to it. (The flashbacks as well.)

Also, gotta say they have some pretty dope transitions between the timelines. I like how they do cool camera tricks where you don't even realize they flashed back in time.

Yeah...it's almost like this show has gotten really rave reviews and considered one of the best of the year and stuff.

(Joking of course. But I am a little disappointed it took you this long to hop on the bandwagon. You're usually on the forefront of things).

I've been struggling to make it through my Netflix queue. Every time I finish something, there's two more things to add.
