I thought their greatest hits album already had been the best selling of all time? This doesn't seem like news.
Agreed. Unless it's a live album, it shouldn't count.Stupe said:
Am I the only one that doesn't consider a compilation album an actual album? I'm not a Michael Jackson fan, but "Thriller" wasn't an album of songs that were already hits.

Some of their best songs aren't even on there.
If more people born after 1980 even knew their first album existed it would probably stream like crazy today.

Per the article linked above 1500 streams of a song or 10 downloads of a song equal 1 album sale.AustinAg2K said:
I wonder if you buy all the songs individually, does that count as an album sale? What if they are bought over a long period of time?

which is kind of jacked up.. some modern pop princess can have one huge song.. no one downloads the album, yet she can have millions of album sales because the song was downloaded tens of millions of times.VW Bus Guy said:Per the article linked above 1500 streams of a song or 10 downloads of a song equal 1 album sale.AustinAg2K said:

This. A greatest hits album may be the biggest seller but it is inherently disqualified from being labeled one of the best albums of all time. Thriller is an important album, The Eagles greatest hits isn't important. Also, who keeps buying albums, are there people that don't have Spotify? The only band I listen to that I know isn't on Spotify is Tool, so there's a reason to buy Tool albums, there's no reason to buy an Eagles album.Stupe said:

but since a song started, does that count as a stream?
You realize this is Greatest Hits Vol 1, which came out in 1976, right?mazag08 said:

What Ag 11 said. It spent the longest amount of consecutive weeks on the chart. In fact, Billboard created a new chart called Catalog Albums because of DSOTM. They wanted the Top 200 to only be newer releases.Potcake said:
