Which musicians died to early voiding the public of their ensuring creativity. Some were inevitable like Jim Morrison, Hendrix or Joplin but some like George Harrison, Lennon or even Michael Jackson had a lot of development to share. You may not agree or like the performer but you have to recognize the talent.

Lennon is the top of the list for me, maybe followed by Winehouse. More recently Tom Petty & Prince.

Hendrix is number 1. Three stellar albums and then died at 27. He was set to collaborate with Clapton and Miles Davis and I think he would have done some really cool **** with jazz fusion.

Mozart wrote 27 pianoconcertos, 40 symphonies more than 200 small piano pieces, violinconcertos (a couple) concertos for clarinet and also for flute. All before the age of 36.

I don't follow. Both died well past their prime. I think they'd both already done their most significant work by the time they died. Same goes for George Harrison and Tom Petty.

Truth
The amount of music and touring Hendrix did from his American debut in June 1967 at the Monterey Pop until his death in September 1970 is staggering. And very much worth a listen. His music style changed noticeably from year to year to year and he had completed Ladyland studios and was doing more and more collaborative work after the experience broke up in 1969.
Definitely died too soon

40 years old is old in the life of a musician's creative output, you probably got the best they had to offer already in the case of most of those listed.

Unpopular opinion, not trying to be edgy. I think Kurt's untimely death saved him/them people realizing that they're just ok. They helped forge a new sound and had some amazing songs, but given the opportunity to make a few more albums I think it would have become more obvious that they're not the icons they are touted as.

The one that probably bothers me the most is Nick Drake. As amazing as his albums are, I think he had only scratched the surface of his abilities. Really wish he'd had a full career to share with us.

Some old guys still evolve like look at Tony Bennett doing a gig with Lady GaGa or Kieth Richards coming out with a nice blues album.

My favorite member of the 27 Club is Janis Joplin. A true "wild child" of the 60s from a seemingly normal American family in Port Arthur. Voted "Ugliest Man on Campus" at tu before her rise to fame. Check out Janis: Little Blue Girl on Netflix.
