A bit of a name drop, but Josh is a producer on a couple of our projects for my production company and that dude could not be nicer. He also responds to emails faster than most of my friends/family, which is amazing.

The tweet below is talking about fresh TROS leaks, of which there is a new batch on reddit that is apparently causing somewhat of an uproar (story-wise, not that the leaks occurred). I have not read this new batch and refuse to read it, but what I read of the old batch months ago (the first two-thirds of the movie) didn't give me any pause. So presumably this is newly learned, third-act material.
But just so everyone's aware, the last time Twitter in-the-know types did this whole "hooo boy, I'll be staying off the internet that week" thing was for Joker, when the script leaked and certain critics/journalists wouldn't shut up about how "toxic" the internet was going to be the week of the release because of the inevitable fanboy uproar, think pieces, etc. And that movie ended up being pretty much universally liked and went on to literally make a billion dollars.
Anyway, since I'm seeing this basic sentiment more and more, I figured this is worth posting so expectations are in-check on multiple levels. If we can make it just one more week...

I do think a tiny tiny part of me would almost rather this movie be atrocious rather than just mediocre. Like obviously I want it to be great, but if it's not going to be good I think it would almost be hilarious just to see the outpouring of takes if it was just comically awful. Like Suicide Squad bad.
I would be shocked if it's bad bad. Reading between the lines, without knowing anything, it sounds like certain story/character choices have been made toward the end that are not sitting well / won't be sitting well with the die-hards.
But yeah, I'm with you. I'd almost rather this whole thing explode in a blaze of glory, Kennedy is relieved of her duties, and they have to truly hit the reset button going forward, if it's not a huge, critically adorned success.

Seeing this movie for the first time in the most historical theatre in the USA that's jam packed with friends with hype levels to the max UNSPOILED...
Or some random theatre by yourself a day early...

I just don't want to miss out on 24 hours of spoiler talk here on the board and have to play catch-up. Then again, my seat for Thursday isn't great, and if the movie sucks, having to see it twice, on back-to-back nights, might be even worse. This truly does feel like my Vader/end-of-ROTJ moment. I'm so conflicted. But jokershady is right...

Go see if with your friends. You know how invested I am in star wars. I work from home and live less than 2 miles from a star cinema grill but have waited until Friday night to see 7 and 8 with the people I like best

I think it's just a combination of Ian McDiarmid being 15 years older since the last time we heard him, and then I guarantee he has some kind of life support device or something that's going to make him sound super sick/old.
