Again, I've been doing exactly what you suggest for basically my entire life. I watched a movie from the Original Trilogy nearly every Sunday morning for as long as I can remember until well after my 30th birthday (and in my adolescence, also every Sunday afternoon for the New Trilogy and then Wednesday night for Extended Universe reading and study). I've attended more Star Wars camps than I can count and still have many close friends who are intimately involved with the organization. I've talked to experts. I've listened to tons of podcasts. And I've read myriad books along the lines of "The Reason for the Force" by Timothy Zahn. I'm not against believing in the force. But none of those experiences or people or experts or podcasts or books have been able to adequately address the issues I've raised. It's not that I want to rail against the Force, it's that no explanation has ever been able to adequately explain away my very real and very sound concerns. I'm sorry, but "because George Lucas says" just isn't good enough for me. Whether it has or hasn't been edited in its 60 year existence is almost beside the point, because it's also hard for me to believe that George Lucas just so happen to only make himself known during those 6 slivers of humanity, and then decided to retreat back to being unknowable again in the traditional sense. The people of the Force seemingly had no choice but to believe because Lucas literally revealed himself to them time and time again. Yet he choses not to do so to us now? Why?

Why have you forskane us. Why have you left us in the hands of people like Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy.

The Timothy Zahn line is inspired, I have to admit. This whole thing is pretty damn funny, actually.

Question about the scene with 3PO....

One of the ideas here is that he's getting something altered to his memory that'll force him to forget about everyone he knows up to a certain point in his timeline, or everyone entirely.

I was wondering today...did anything that happened to him in the prequels potentially have importance with TROS? Remember the rebellion had his memory (and R2s) erased at the end of ROTS. He was built by Anikan and it's safe to assume had a lot of knowledge regarding the beginning of the rebellion and the Jedi from the prequels.

Is it possible he resistance determined there's some kind of vital information he holds from the prequels that could be re-obtained that was thought to be erased...but he'd have to revert back to his programming at that time? This would erase his entire knowledge from what we'd seen from ANH on.

Just a thought.....

I was thinking about the Rebel fleet with Lando in the Falcon at the front of it. Probably calls in a lot of favors to get a bunch of people out of retirement and out to fight the good fight, might take on a feel like the Ravager funeral for Yondu in GOTG2, and we see all sorts of aliens new and old and Rogue Squadron showing up, etc.

Then took that a step farther - Maz is in the movie, but her castle was destroyed, love to see some massive predatory ship show up with all kinds of cool features and it's lil ol Maz driving it.

3PO's head, with one functioning optical camera, was sitting on a shelf in Shmi Skywalker's one bedroom hovel, the night that Palpatine Force projected himself down to Tatooine and knocked her up. Shmi later regretted falling for the "I'm a Mandalorian officer on a secret mission to Coruscant" line, but only a little.

I like this thinking but I can't think of anything 3po would have done that R2 wasn't there for unless it happened before Obi Wan and company arrived on Tattooine.

But maybe Palpatine visited Anakin?

3PO knows about Padme and Obi-Wan banging in her apartment before heading over to Mustafar.

Anakin's jealous rage was actually warranted.

I've wondered for a while if this is basically exactly what's going to happen.

I don't think JJ is going to kill Leia in this movie, but her death would be something big enough that it might galvanize a resistance from all corners of the galaxy.

I think they'll play up Leia's use of the force to save herself in TLJ sapping her strength. They've already got footage of her in a coma in a bed, it doesn't seem like it would be hard to doctor that into a death scene - would emulate Luke passing after the grand illusion and Yoda getting very old and sick within a few months or whatever the time frame is from when he lifts Luke's X-Wing to Luke's return visit.

I'd like to think everyone who ignored her call for help in TLJ would be extremely shamed into helping when Lando Calrissian broadcasts a message from Leia (or even from himself ) saying this is the dying wish of the woman who played in some ways the biggest part in freeing you from the oppression of the Empire - is this how you thank her, by shying away from the fight?

It would be badass for all their designers to get to design all those ships from different species and have them all on screen for 3-5 seconds at time calling in to say they're ready to attack - Mon Cal, Bothans, Wookiees, Sullust, Rodians, whoever else they want to throw out there. Def. sounds like the Avengers: Assemble moment in Endgame, hell I can practically hear the music while I type this, but it would an epic scene for a sequel trilogy that has sorely missed space combat.

If that really is the Ghost out there, you've got to show me Hera in the cockpit with Chopper just for 2 seconds. Have Hera drop in "This is for you, Kanaan" and I'll probably lose it

Or they can bring the house down by having Chewie roar and Lando swear as they see a familiar ship come on the scanners, and they cut to the cockpit of Slave I with an unhelmeted Boba Fett - Temeura Morrison covered in scars and burns from escaping the Sarlaac saying " I'm not doing this for you, Solo, or Skywalker, understand. This is about survival." and then putting on the old helmet to go to war.

She's already recovered from that though, it's going to have to be something new that gets her.

It would be hard to put this in the movie I think, but one of the things that's kind of bugged everyone about Rey is that seemingly everything she does she's super effective at. Could a mistake or a decision by Rey early in the movie lead to Leia's death, and getting over that and continuing on could be Rey's big challenge of this movie?

Someone mentioned it a couple of days ago, but on the trailer when you hear Luke say, "confronting fear is the destiny of the Jedi."

I don't know if they will go this route, but I am convinced the best use of this line is Force Ghost Luke speaking to Kylo Ren. If they are going to try to redeem Kylo, this seems like a good way to do it. This whole time he has failed when confronting fear and now at the end of all things he must do it once last time, will he succeed or fail again?
