Why do all these idiots on Twitter say "It's official". Do they not know what that means?

I would argue that Twitter is comprised mostly of idiots.

To be fair this is really odd by Campea. He's pretty in-the-know and he's just now hearing it is dropping on Monday? I thought that was pretty widely accepted already.

Not sure if anyone's noticed, but the showtimes for TROS are 3:30 - 3:45 hours apart per each theater.

This is gonna be a long movie.

Hell yes.

This Richtman dude is doubling down on his claim that the official announcement (along with a trailer tease) is coming tomorrow morning. Again, I've never heard of this guy and I have no idea why all the reddit peeps are listening to him, but that's the latest...

That would be nuts (and awesome) if this is actually a three-hour movie...

I'm pretty sure 3 hours is damn near a lock at this point. 3:45 seems to be the standard gap in most theaters.

****ing nuts. Cannot wait.

"This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible," Abrams tells EW in its November issue. "So if years from now, someone's watching these movies, all nine of them, they're watching a story that is as cohesive as possible."

"It does not bother me, people writing theories," Ridley said. "It's really fun hearing them. Plus, because I know what's sort of going to happen, I think it'll be really interesting to see people's reaction to [the final film]. Obviously, there's this whole Reylo thing and some people are very passionate about it, some aren't."
Ridley hinted that the seemingly romantic connection isn't left unaddressed by director J.J. Abrams in The Rise of Skywalker.

"J.J. does deal with [it]," she added. "It's a very complex issue. People talk about toxic relationships and whatever it is. It's no joke and I think it's dealt with really well because it's not skimmed over."

If Endgame can do it, why not Star Wars?

I hope that is not the logic of allowing the movie to be that long..."it worked for Endgame"

AND to answer you, Endgame had 45 million (exaggerating) interesting character arcs to wrap up. Star Wars has some, but not that many.
TCTTS

I beg to differ. Endgame really only had to wrap up Tony, Cap, Black Widow, and Thanos. The other major players had pretty standard arcs - Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and Nebula - while everyone else was basically missing for 95% of the runtime.

TROS has to completely wrap up Leia, Rey, Kylo, Finn, Poe, Chewey, and C-3PO/R2-D2, introduce two new characters (Zorii Bliss and Jannah), re-introduce and wrap-up Lando and Palpatine, while also servicing not only to Luke in some way, but also wrap up nearly 60 years worth of story (in-movie, 40+ years in our world), not to mention possible cameo appearances by Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, etc. I would argue that this movie has far more heavy lifting to do in terms of wrapping up characters and answering questions than Endgame, which had the benefit of having an entire other movie immediately prior in Infinity War to further lay the ground work for the end of all of those arcs, and then had the luxury of keeping most of its other characters going past that point. TROS not only has to follow TLJ, which basically did the opposite of Infinity War and essentially reset the narrative, it has to end EVERYTHING.

That, and if the leaked story beats are to be believed, I don't see how this movie fits into the standard 2h 15m runtime anyway. Three hours might be pushing it, but 2h 45m wouldn't surprise me at all.

There's plenty of material for TROS to be a solid 3 hours

Right on.

People forget that 98% of the characters in Endgame will continue on. That was a season finale. This is a series finale.

I would love a 3 hour Star Wars film. Or just one that takes the needed time to tell the story, flesh out some things and arcs; & also leave us a little hopeful for the Future.

sitting down at dinner with my family and announced to everyone that there will be no drinks or visiting of the snack bar at the theater.

In addition, meals will be planned ahead of time to ensure maximum likelihood of zero bathroom visits.

The other thing the movie needs to do besides being an end to the "Skywalker Saga". It needs to also re-energize the franchise for future movies/comics/tv shows/etc.

Not saying it is dead, just saying they want to sell more of it, so the movie needs to set that up the future of the brand, or at least hint at it.

Endgame was ridic long. I have no interest in seeing more movies follow that route of putting all the dvd extras and deleted scenes into the feature. it takes discipline and direction to tell a story within a confined time period, which is what I expect when I got to a movie.

Well pretty much everyone else in the world tends to disagree.
