How did the Nazis have time to sew a custom-fitted cover for the Ark of the Covenant during the sail to the island?

My favorite movie. Simply put, this is why cinema was invented by Edison and the Lumiere brothers was for films like Raiders of the Lost Ark.

yeah until you realize that nothing would be any different if Indy had done nothing. he could have waited until the end and still gotten the arc.
The Nazi's still find the arc eventually and maybe even quicker remember Indy delayed them because he hid the medallion from them, they still take it to the island or maybe Berlin instead open it, die. And if he wasn't involved to begin with then Marian isn't put in harm's way and almost killed.
Only after the arc is opened does Indy contribute (other than perhap delaying the inevitable) by the somehow (we are not shown how) getting the arc back off the German island military base with only a nazi sub at his disposal, and back to a warehouse in the US for safekeeping.
Don't get me wrong I love the movie and it's more of the journey then the logic behind any of it. Of course Indy had no way of knowing that would transpire that way but it is kinda funny in retrospect.
Yeah, I hate that it took them so long to make a 4th installment.Ag Since 83 said:
With Spielberg working in the fifth movie, I must say I've done a complete 180 on the idea of recasting Indy. He belongs in the 30s. A fifth movie with Ford would have to be in the 60s at this point? Which means we'd get some 60s film homage probably.
Just make it Pratt and let him fight Nazis. Or do the World War II spy movie they hinted at in Crystal Skull

I read Harrison Ford was really sick the day they filmed this and he didn't want to do the fight scene. It was his idea just to shoot the guy.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Between this scene and "I know" from Empire Ford had two of the best ad libs ever.Cepe said:I read Harrison Ford was really sick the day they filmed this and he didn't want to do the fight scene. It was his idea just to shoot the guy.Brian Earl Spilner said:
