I just came across this post and I am quite amazed that someone would single out the politics board for this. Have you never read any of the boards after a football or basketball loss? Have you not seen the vile hatred spewed at coaches because their teams don't win enough games to make them happy? It's insane and depressing. I quit paying for this site because I got tired of it. Ironically, some of the people who keep bringing up the Politics Board here also post over there, which is weird. Even lil ole SeattleAgJr once took a break from posting 37 threads a day of Politics to blast me for a hilarious comment here and tell me to go back to the Politics Board (presumably so I could read his next 9 threads).Quote:

What makes the Politics board worse in my opinion is that it's an echo chamber. At least on the boards that are sports-oriented, for every insane remark - or group of insane remarks - there's usually an equal chorus of voices in opposition. In other words, many of the arguments that take place outside of the Politics board allow for actual arguments, as vile as those arguments may be sometimes, where differing thoughts can be shared/discussed and productive conversations can actually blossom from time to time between people with differing views. The Politics board, however, is nothing but shouting down any opinion that differs from the herd. It's a pack mentality that literally celebrates the tears/pain/downfall of anyone not in lockstep with the prescribed views. I check Texags from time to time at work and after I click on politics I wonder if my employer had me logged for visiting an alt-right website. And agree with TC, I agree with more than half of what is posted there but the complete tone deafness and lack of empathy tie into incredibly stupid and hateful posts

Independence Day is a much different case and probably fair to debate, although that was definitely an ensemble cast.
i'm going to bet ice dancing, curling, and the luge are going to take a huge bite out of the worldwide box office this weekend.
