So there would be significant opposition to an Ocean's 14 movie?

That would infer that people in Hollywood have common sense.AgMarauder04 said:
If this bombs as hard as the she-ghostbusters flick, maybe they will get the hint that rebooted with a gimmick is just stupid.

I'd be ok with it if The Rock played every character

His record with Ocean heist films is hit or miss. 11 was great, but 13 was decidedly meh, and 12 was so terrible and such a transparent money grab that I felt insulted walking out of the theater. I'm wondering if he got lucky with or ran out of ideas after 11.Quote:
Steven Soderbergh, the director of the first three, had a ton of creative input on this one, which counts for a lot in my book.

Ghostbusters made $230MM on a $145MM budget. I wouldn't call that a bust.

It's a fun heist movie. The actual heist is a lot of fun and the characters are all great. Kaling got a bit of the short stick in this one. I'd watch another movie with these characters based on the chemistry alone. Perfect for a MoviePass night if you are on the fence IMO.
Hollywood accounting is almost criminal.Zombie Jon Snow said:1876er said:AgMarauder04 said:

you would if you realize thats the production budget alone.
Add another 50% typically or $70MM in distribution and advertising costs. thats $215MM total cost.
And of the $230MM in box office the studio typically sees only 50%on average or $115MM. the rest goes to the theaters.
So they lost over $100MM most likely on the standard basis for determining profit for films.
Cable, PPV and BR/DVD might make them back another $20MM or so and merchandising but I doubt it was much with this film maybe $5M.
Easily lost $75MM or more.

Hey just saw it this afternoon... can't remember if I posted here before or not but......
my DAUGHTER is in this movie. We kinda waited to make sure she wasn't completely cut. she was just an extra and filmed last year in NYC where she is a theater student. she was a generic model type in a ball gown at the Met Gala big event of the movie. we knew they would not cut all of that but you never know what makes the final cut.
We saw her 4 times in that scene all together but you would have to be looking for her of course. Tall blonde in a green sequined dress. I'll post a pic of her from wardrobe fittings later.
Once she was behind bullock just during like the entrance to the Met. Another time she was standing at one of the other tables as they followed Anne Hathaways entrance. And she was in one of those panning shots of the weird dark room with all the other gowns and jewels just walking like any of the guests. She was also on the stairs of the crowd as they exited during the lockdown. I think that was it but we will have to watch again.
she had several other parts shot where she had closer proximity to the stars especially Sarah Paulson but none of those made it in apparently. she shot for 10 nights overnight from like 6pm to 4-5am at the Met itself. there were reshoots later where they recreated parts of the interior.
And she met several of the stars at one time or another - Sarah Paulson kept talking to her because she wanted to know the designer of her dress and they had to get wardrobe to find out and get the info for her. She met Rhianna as she did a special backroom meet an greet thing for the model girl extras. Briefly met Sandra and Anne but nothing much to report just a hi nice to meet you kind of thing. Talked briefly to Katie Holmes who was a celeb cameo in that dining room scene. And saw the Kardashians but never talked to any of them - they were more aloof than the movie stars of course. Never saw Cate Blanchett or Mindy Kahling because they were not on the floor during the Met scene they were always back in the kitchens, etc.
It was a fun little game for us to try to find her - I need to pay more attention to the movie next time but I liked it for the most part (I could be biased).
And her 20th birthday was yesterday so it was kind of a fun birthday outing for us.

This will not end well for you.
(Awesome story/experience, though.)

I liked Logan Lucky
In fact, f_ck the backyard; I'll mow it later!
It's Channing and Logan Lucky time.
Where's my Copenhagen?
This was my biggest complaint. They explained the plan to the audience beforehand, and, other than a few minor hiccups, the plan went off without a hitch. There really wasn't any suspense or surprises.TCTTS said:
That, and every single problem encountered (all three of them) is easily solved in 30 seconds or less. There's no real tension and the mission never feels like it's in any legit jeopardy.
