If it's "young Aragorn," then anywhere from 20-60 years before Fellowship. Maybe around the time Bilbo goes with the dwarves to the Lonely Mountain

Don't confuse Middle Earth with the TCU (Tolkien cinematic universe)
We don't know this is taking place in Jackson's Middle Earth.
Just finishing up a re-read of The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings. The Fellowship sure does get lucky before and after the break up because they travel across a metric sh-t ton of land without anything much at all happening with the minions of Sauron and Saruman abroad.
Compare this to all the sneaking and creeping going on in GoT, it is sort of funny how lazy Tolkien was when moving character from place to place.

Yeah, it's not like the Nazgul almost caught them in the shire, or they almost got eaten by a tree, buried by zombies, or killed in Bree, or on Weathertop, or caught at the border of Rivendell.
Lucky to barely run into any problems, just in the first book.
Edit: I see you said before/after the breaking. Well, they almost got buried in snow and were forced into Moria, where Frodo was nearly eaten by a giant squid, killed by trolls and orcs, and faced a balrog that cost them Gandalf. So lucky

Ya gotta disagree with you there. The Professor is many things, but lazy is not one of them. His pacing is excellent in my opinion, especially when it comes to traveling.
The Hobbits/Fellowship encounter Barrow wights, The Nine, a snow storm, (were)wolves outside Moria, The Watcher in the Water, a Balrog, Orcs and Uruk-Hai along the rivers after Lorien, where they break up and eventually Merry and Pip are taken. Just in the first book.

Not to mention GRRM has literally credited Tolkien with inspiring him to kill of main characters. (Boromir / Gandalf.)

I'd like to see Kit Harrington as young Aragon. Bring in the directors, writers, and production staff who previously worked on GoT as well.

This would actually be pretty cool. Focusing on Elendil and Isildur would really nicely fill in the gaps of how exactly Isildur came to find the ring, how he ultimately failed and the royal line ended, leading to Aragorn himself. (Subsequent seasons, or possibly even parallel timelines within the same season?)
Would sort of be the equivalent of seeing the First Men, ie. the first Starks, in GoT.
Oh, and you've got your climactic battle ready-made. The Last Alliance of Elves & Men. (Glimpsed in the prologue of Fellowship of the Ring.)

Season 1 events
Ar-Pharazon, King of Numenor, quells the uprising of Sauron in Middle Earth
Sauron is taken prisoner by the king but quickly becomes an adviser due to treachery and deceit
Sauron convinces the King's men to sail West and overtake the Undying Lands
The Faithful, led by Amandil (Elendil's father), readies the remaining Numenoreans friendly to Elves to depart Numenor
Ar-Pharazon is obliterated by the Ban of the Valar
Sauron escapes back to Middle Earth
Elendil and sons land in Middle Earth
Season 2
Founding of the Realms in Exile
Minas Anor, Minas Ithil, Osgiliath built in the South, Annuminas built in the North
Last Alliance battle
Ending with Isildur's death and delivery of the Narsil to his heir

Get Bill Skarsgard to play Sauron. He gives off that fair, elf-y quality, but creepy at the same time.
