It was quite intentional. The half brother was dead he was named for him as a tribute.

And there have been like a dozen Aegon's in the books before Jon.

it was whispered but not audible (intentionally) and people speculated what it was. They were wrong..... because nobody would think it was his half brothers name.

Here was one article where people GUESSED it was Jaehaerys - but that was never confirmed.


In fact the producers revealed later that they put a little easter egg (pun intended) way back in Season 3 when Shireen was teaching Davos to read the first word from a book she showed him was Aegon (pronounced like "egg" she said). Nobody thought anything of it at the time because there are so many Aegon's in history.

How are you getting 95 as the number of WW? In the scene in season 4 where they turn the baby into one, there are 14 others in the background. Were the rest working at the B&B that day?

Could be a setup for the dramatic rescue when they return from a scouting mission in the nick of time.

We were told in the books (or somewhere) that gilly's baby was the 100th of craster's sons - leading some to believe that the nk wants that baby because it's special in some way) he did send a ww after it. Some ww's perished since then (Samwell and Jon have both wasted some)

Wouldn't the Karstark infantry have been wiped out at the BOB?

I was wondering if they are spread out as scouts across the north to report on potential AoD movements or maybe garrisoning some smaller bases.

You know I do really like the show, but conceptually it's just a lotr soap opera. Basically set in Bree/Gondor/Rohan....before they realized Mordor was the big problem.

In kind, Ned and borimir are sort of mirrors as are the sams.

As such, I tend to expect some real underdog to be the one to save the day.
