Anyone else notice what "Slim Charles" said after shooting the guy. The line was almost exactly from The Wire episode where they introduced Cutty.

Good catch. It was very wire-esque.
I'm sure the cops won't care it's a pimp...and he can just say he was robbing him or pulled a gun (if he plants one).
Murder in NYC in the 70s was like murder in Chicago today...nobody saw nothing and cops don't care if it's one low life killing another.

Ha, good question. I don't know that it's necessarily based on a character but rather his performance as a whole, potentially. So it would maybe read as, "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: James Franco as the Martino Brothers in The Deuce" or something like that.
EDIT: Actually, yeah, I just looked it up and there are multiple singular past winners officially credited with "Various Characters" as their role. So there's your answer.

Just watched last night's ep and was thinking about this as he said it. Good ole cutty from the cut

I was thinking the same thing, if how he reacted to past episodes, can't imagine how he'd react to this one.
It's been awhile since I've felt so disappointed a show was about to be at a season finale. I know this isn't a traditional show, but man I wish they had done 13 episodes or at least 10.
Same exact thought during that scene.
Yeah that would be my one complaint. Doesn't feel nearly enough like a "complete" season at this point. Feels like we're only half way through. Especially knowing we're cutting years ahead next season, it just doesn't quite feel right.

Also when did David Krumholtz get so fat? Was that for this role?
Slim Charles just steals every scene he's in.

I can't remember where I read it, but Krumholtz actually got some kind of illnesss that caused him to gain all that weight. In the article was a picture he posted that showed him having lost a ton of weight since then, and he has apparently overcome whatever illness he had as well. Fit the character perfectly, though.

My take was that was shame/guilt-induced. He made a big deal about having a wife earlier.
Agree. I think it just drives the point home of what she told the porn director later. It can be classy and have a bunch of bells and whistles, but at the end of the day it's still ****ing for money and she's a hooker.

I never considered the AIDS angle and agree the timeline doesn't make sense. And we've already done the gay/AIDS thing in depth on HBO in Angels in America.
