That's not fair, some people are genetically predisposed to liking the smell more than others.

Oh I see. It was the 70s. It's ok then.

Yep. We had zero idea that injecting or ingesting toxic chemicals into your body was harmful back then.

You ingest harmful chemicals every day. Therefore you are a moron, as well. Socially speaking, racism and slavery was ok until it wasn't. Smoking was ok until we found out it wasn't. High fructose corn syrup was ok until it wasn't. Pesticides were ok until they weren't. Pot was bad until it wasn't. I can keep going.

Like I said, it was the 70s. Most drugs were hitting the scene around then. No one knew what they did to you, and most didn't bother to care.

My only concern is that Carrie's family had to know she was still doing hard drugs and mixing them. There was so much talk about Carrie overcoming her addictions in the build up to TFA and thereafter...that one has a right to feel like it was all a con job.

You should go troll Al-Anon and AA meetings too. Maybe a few funerals of people who OD'd. Take your show on the road. Bet you and your buddies would get a kick out of how hard you pwned people by telling them how stupid and worthless their loved ones who are fighting for survival or lost that fight were. You wouldn't have the balls to do that though, you just take to the internet to laugh at the misfortunes of others.

For a supposedly educated and intelligent individual to over simplify addiction to "dumbasses had to try to get addicted" or "they're morons for trying alcohol or prescribed drugs in the first place" is about as ignorant as it gets. You only look cool/badass to each other. Everyone on here who has seen addiction up close and personal is just wishing a few of you would just go away. No one thinks you're tough.

Thank God every day that you are not an addict. You don't even have a clue how ignorant you sound to people who have educated themselves or have struggled with this. You come across like a couple of flat earthers high fiving eachother.

Even if you are 100% convinced you are right, the classy thing to do would quit making bold proclamations and insults on this thread because it can truly be offensive and hurtful to other Ags who have gone through sh** you can't imagine. Even if their loved ones were indeed morons, what is it you hope to accomplish here? Overcompensate for Low T?

One thing I'd like to accomplish is to eliminate almost all public funding for addiction treatment. That would be a start. I shouldn't have to subsidize poor choices. I honestly don't care what people do, or the people that make excuses for them. I do care when it affects me.

I don't think I am tough or trolling for pointing out the absurdity of memorializing a dead actress who did drugs her entire life.

But then again I don't get the similar treatment of John Belushi, PSH, Michael Jackson, etc or any celebrity who died in the throes of drugs.

Sure, she is the most iconic female sci-fi lead ever. She also dies just like everyone else who does too many drugs.

Hopefully this post will get voted down so all the fanboys can share e-high fives once this is deleted.

In short,

Seriously, why are you posting on this thread again?

Your other posts were deleted because you were a d-bag. Take the hint.

Wycliffe, I've called you out several times over the years and we've been back-and-forth at times, but I just wanted to say that I am extremely sorry to hear about the issues you and your wife are facing. I know it's a very serious struggle and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

Thoughts and prayers to you both and the rest of your family.

I am with you on that. I honestly didn't know we funded addiction treatment in this country. It's hard to tell after getting the insanely high bills for these multiple rounds of treatment and I highly doubt any of it is subsidized for us. I would never expect anyone to help me or my family members out with addiction or any other illness/disease/ailment/disorder.

Just 1-2 years ago, I was a "legalize everything" libertarian who thought "play stupid games win stupid prizes". But after seeing how sneakily addiction can develop and witnessing the the unfair and virtually uncontrollable grip it has on addicts, there is no way I think it should be sold legally in liquor stores etc. It's a rigged game. I can't believe big pharma was allowed to develop and sell something so highly addictive. These aren't just vicodins and hydrocodones we are talking.

I have never seen someone try so hard to quit something in their lives and still break down and fail repeatedly. To the point where it was determined the only way they'd have a chance is long term 3-month treatment stint up in the mountains away from civilization and drugs. And in reality, even after that, there's a very high rate of relapse.

In the mind of the addicted, I don't believe its as sneaky as you claimed. Thoughts have to be prevalent to get started.

Just because some people are addiction prone to certain substances, doesn't mean it should be restricted to the rest of us.

I agree with you, but I think 20-30 mg Oxy is overkill and was being prescribed for far too many ailments that could have been treated by other drugs. You have a doctor who posted above who pretty much refuses to prescribe it to anyone because it is every bit as addicting as heroin. It has contributed heavily to a never before seen epidemic in this country. I don't think your rights should be taken away...I just think doctors and big pharma should be more responsible.

I have read that part of the epidemic was fueled by the ACA, which factored in patient ratings of doctors. Doctors who refused to prescribe Oxy were getting dinged big time by addicts who would do just about anything for it.

If I were a doctor, I would pretty much only give Oxy to terminally ill cancer patients, after feeling the awesome power of a 30mg tablet.

Also, Heroin deaths rose 23 percent in one year, deaths from synthetic opioids rose 73 percent. Many of those heroin users started off on prescribed opiods that they were cut off from. That qualifies as "sneaky as hell" to me.
