Major bummer. This also means we won't see a faithful Spider-Man symbiote saga on film anytime soon. The material from the comic arc could easily create a ton of dough for Sony through several movies.

Given the things that will be lacking/changed in this story, I think I'd rather see Tom Hardy play Wolverine.
The insane theory that Life was a Venom film was a better idea than the Brock intro.
Not sure there'd ever be a 6-movie saga of any super hero with one actor. The release dates are too far apart right to make it likely, right? With how big and expensive they make these movies nowadays?
Guess Iron Man is close to counting, even though he's not the sole main character in every outing. I think that is more of a product of the perfect storm between Downey as Stark.

Am I the only one who liked the first few spiderman movies with McGuire? I thought he did a good job portraying what is supposed to be an awkward nerdy kid. Not a "nerdy" kid. And I liked Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborne.
The third movie did screw up Venom and tried to throw too much into a single movie. I know everyone complained about Peter when he was in the black suit but I thought it was perfect. He wasnt supposed to be "cool." He was supposed to be a cocky version of his awkward nerdy self who thinks he is "cool." And to that end I though he did that part pretty well.
Oh, and I liked Kirsten dunst as Mary Jane. Not bc of her stellar acting but bc I liked her as a redhead.

I still rank the second one as on of my top ten superhero movies. Doc Ock is one of my favorite super villains though.

I just can't imagine that if it's successful that Disney and Sony wouldn't work out a way to share the characters. I mean, Disney is lending Sony Iron Man this summer.

That's a Marvel movie, regardless of what the title screen will say. It seems clear to me that Sony has had nothing to do with its development.
I think Spiderman 2 > SM1 = ASM1 > ASM2 > SM3.
I love spiderman so I enjoyed all of them, but the villains in ASM2 and SM3 were pretty terrible and the Emo scenes just ... sigh*
I do however think that the chemistry between Garfield and Stone was the best part of all of the films. Despite the villains being horrible in that movie they did her death well.

Still very confusing. I guess they'll use the MCU to boost up this side universe, but the side universe doesn't count as MCU.
Watch the video......Kevin Feige doesn't really look on board with this. He smiles once, but otherwise looks just as confused as us as to what this woman's saying.

Spider-man 2 is a damn good superhero movie. Probably a top 3 for me, alongside The Dark Knight and the first Iron Man movie.
This thread keeps making me happy and sad and confused all at the same time.

This just keeps getting worse and worse, but I guess every franchise needs to have their "Batman & Robin" to wake the studio up as to how bad their ideas are....
not sure if you noticed but this is in the MCU spiderman's universe, just not officially in the MCU. I think you could start the movie with Spiderman shedding the venom suit and it finding Brock, or even have it being the first act of the movie.

It just seems so... vague... at this point. IS Tom Holland appearing in this? Because nobody can seem to agree on that and he's not contractually obligated, as far as I'm aware. And does Disney want them using their universe to launch an unofficial side universe? Could they do anything about it anyway?
