He's been pretty great in certain roles and is certainly a good actor given the right material, but he tanked himself pretty hard with his Joker portrayal and the stories of his behavior behind the scenes. He's a massive tool, and just a really unlikable guy.

Wonder if Garret Hedlund would be back... he's basically done nothing since and certainly didn't turn into a box office star. They also were setting up Cillian Murphy as the villain for a sequel, so it'll be interesting to see whether they abandon that or not. I would imagine this would be almost a total reboot and very unlikely to get back Jeff Bridges or Olivia Wilde.

Message board complaints aside, I'd be happy with anything more Tron related. I would just hope that Kosinski would be back to direct and write Daft Punk whatever check they need to do the music again.

I think one big reason this movie has been greenlit is this:



Disney is building this spectacular new roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom in Orlando that will open some time next year. Having another movie to tie into it is just a win-win for Disney. It's just perfect cross-promotion.

Well... I'll certainly take it, but seems like an interesting choice all the way around. Just gotta trust that they have a solid vision and will make something entertaining. And it's certainly better than the alternative of nothing at all.


Haven't seen the most important question answered though... what about Daft Punk???

They didn't show people getting on or off the ride.

I actually made my own Shooting gallery video game based on the movie as a kid.
It was probably one of the most complete games I ever made in Basic.

The black hole is a dark freaking kids movie. Nothing like seeing Maximilian and the crazy guy in hell. I had the record version of that movie and played the hell out of it. I know it's on Disney plus but I've been too chicken to watch it as an adult

I've only seen Tron:Legacy, I didn't realize there was a plot but just great special effects. Agree that the "young" Jeff Bridges was weird but also the actor playing the son was really bad. Cora was hot and the motorcycles were cool.

If Leto plays the villain, and they cast someone else as the lead, I can handle it. Leto was a great villain in Blade Runner 2049. But if he's some weirdo protagonist, eh, no thanks.

As someone who watched 20 minute sections of Tron: Legacy on Showtime and TMC on a near-nightly basis while taking the night shift for twin babies in the summer of 2012, I feel I am qualified to say that Jared Leto will overact the hell out of his role and should not be allowed inside the system.

My ex gf used to live next to him in Studio City back in ~2015. We would always see him riding around in his Bronco with girls who I am just going to assume were 18.
