For me, it's House of Cards by Radiohead. Breathtaking every time I hear it (or most of the other songs on the In Rainbows album).

I love that song too, so I was kind of baffled to find that after spending some time (probably too much time) in the Radiohead subreddit this summer, it seems to not get much love, and is considered by a lot of fans to be kind of a filler tune.

Wow, REALLY?! That's insanity. I'd say if there's ANY song on that album that could possibly be considered to be a filler song, it would be Videotape, but even that song is wonderful.

Honestly, the first 5 seconds of House of Cards are probably my favorite sounds of all time.

By the Way, it's been almost 80 years since OTR came out, and it can still bring smiles and joy like this:

I love it too. May have to put all of In Rainbows on now...

I think to answer your question I might have to go with Exit Music for a Film. The way that song builds in intensity is just amazing.

So hard to pick just one song. If I change my mind, I'll just come back and edit this post.

Oh, and in case anyone hasn't seen the video for House of Cards, it's pretty cool, "filmed" entirely without cameras, just uses a laser kind of version of radar to create a 'map' of the area scanned.

Jeeze this is tough...if we are talking pure music only I can listen to SRV's Little Wing on a continuous loop for the rest of my days.

Lyrically and Instrumentally combined...Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah is damn near perfect:

Good choices. It's interesting that they're both covers, but I prefer them to the originals.

I'm going to go with Iz's erosion of this song, which is what they did here.

It never fails to make me feel.

Yeah, the actual melody and harmony to OTR makes it an easy consideration for best written song ever. The Hawaiian dudes remake is pleasant enough, but IMO loses a lot of what makes it a great song, and replaces it with a lot of 90s-2000s pop conventions.

Surprised we haven't had more inputs for classical songs. Or movie soundtracks.

Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith

It contains one of the greatest and well known harmony hooks of all time with the timeless bassline, and the next thing you know, your banging your head to music that could have been considered current in any decade post-Elvis.

Was going to submit Moonlight Sonata, but I guess that's not really considered a "song"

You know what little touch I really love in that song? When the last verse comes in, there's a really groovy little triangle part. I'm serious, relisten, it's awesome.
