Anyone else see the promos during the nba finals with Kobe?
About time they have a man in the ghostbuster's uniform.

Nothing will beat the original, that much is obvious.

After the promo with Carmello and Spike Lee, I said, "I'd rather see THAT Ghostbusters".

I'll stick by my original gripe: an all woman cast is not funny enough to pull this off.

There are a lot of things women can't do as well as guys. Comedy is one of them.

Not trying to stir trouble, but I am interested in this, are there women that you do find funny?

Also, do you think it would be possible to pull this off with an all male cast?

Found a trailer that's actually decent....had a few moments not in the other trailers and the way it was done actually made this movie seem watchable.....

If this had been the first trailer released there probably wouldn't have been nearly as much backlash......only problem is it took them 3 tries to get it right and everyone has it in their head this movie is going to suck.....and rightfully so.....

Wow. They gave it the "ix-nay on the eslie Jones-Lay" treatment. I'm sure she's thrilled.

Two things..

1. The comedy isn't funny. At all. It's straight from Saturday night live gotcha quotes which is the least funny thing on the planet. The original movie was creative, well written, and the comedy seemed genuine. This all feels forced and stinks of over acting and bad writing.

2. The ghosts look horrible. Other than the comedy, the one thing that worried me was that they would go over the top with CGI. They didn't disappoint.

I will be honest, that trailer was muuuch better than the first. Probably had something to do with showing less of the giant angry black woman acting like a stereotypical giant angry black woman.

I love both original Ghostbusters. The first one was brilliant and the second was fun. But this looks like they're pissing on Harold Ramis's grave. I refuse to watch it.

I dont think that song is awful, but I don't think it's bad either. It just sounds like most everything else out there now. It's nowhere near as catchy as the original.

As for the previews I do think people are going over the top in their hatred. Don't get me wrong, the movie doesn't look good, but I've seen far worse previews this year. This movie just looks like most comedies that are out there now. The jokes don't seem original. It's probably not going to be the worst movie of the year, but that really shouldn't be your goal of your remaking a classic like Ghostbusters.

Well, apparently it's just as bad as it looks.

I just read a review from The Hollywood Reporter that is the polar opposite of everything Devin said.

I'll have to wait until I hear more....but I wasn't planning on spending money on this to see it in the theater anyway.

Regardless of the content here, this guy is a pretty poor writer. I've heard of this site, is he a well-known critic? If so, that's kind of sad.

You wouldn't know this movie is less than a week away from release. Papa johns is doing a promo but otherwise, crickets chirping.

Hollywood reporter saying the same, it's just not funny.

Why would a movie that is at 74% pale in comparison? I think PCness is distorting this one big time.

Eh, I think the general idea is that critics and viewers generally are looking at a movie through a different lens, but sometimes agree on a movie. Though, I think the point on Devin's review is that he may have drunk the koolaid.

For instance, I think most of us agreed that BvS was pretty ****ty and that a film like ****-tastic Four was horrendous and you probably could have spent your money better by burning it rather than seeing what was in theaters. In both cases, I think most people agreed with the reviewers.

You're misunderstanding what a RT score is. A score of 75 doesn't mean it's a 7.5/10. Out It means that 7.5/10 critics gave it at least a 6/10.

If the movie is kinda good, but doesn't measure up to the original, a RT score of around 75 makes sense to me.

It has a metacritic score of 62, which also supports that interpretation.

RT's metric is terrible, metacritic all the way.

I think rotten tomatoes is fairly accurate to what the general public thinks. Movies that score above an 80 most people like. Movies that score below a 50 most people hate, and movies that score between 50-70 most people are kinda meh on.

When judging a movie off of its trailer I'm never wrong. This looks and will be terrible. I'll never know if I'm right or wrong on this one.

Seems like several male critics are giving it a barely passing score to protect themselves from the misogynist label. If you can read between the lines of their reviews you'll see what I'm talking about.

male examples:

#1: Ghostbusters isn't remotely on par with the original, but by no means terrible. Chris Hemsworth steals the film completely.






#2: The new film will do well enough. I wouldn't watch it again. Mind you, I wouldn't watch the original Ghostbusters again.



and more women critics are trying to boost it up as better (although several give it a mediocre grade as well).

Female examples:


#1: The new, bigger, bustier Ghostbusters is a rollickingly funny delight, paying homage to the classic film but rebooting it with four female protagonists who have the same laconic, ironic wit as the original men.

#2: Paul Feig's remake is hilarious, forward-looking, and delightfully in touch with its origins.
