I was thinking that another disappearance had already happened at the end of last weeks episode with the girls missing but last night did a good job of adding in another possibility. Overall i've enjoyed this season thus far and thought last nights episode was pretty good.

Hard to know what the reality is at this point any time the focus is on Kevin. His world seems to be spiraling out of control.

No clue what's going on with this show. Is he hallucinating or is that ghost "real"? Why TF did he wake up tied to a cinderblock?

He was trying to kill himself by drowning. However, in Miracle nobody can die (so it seems) so the earth opened up and drained the lake to prevent his death. The side product though was that three girls disappeared, presumably alive somewhere down in the whole.

I thought that too, that the earth quake opened up the river. My wife thought it was just the normal river contours. What does she know right?
Could the water collector at the beginning of the season be a factor in the girls disappearance?

Why? I think it's been really good this year so far!

So is this season at all related to Season 1? I quit watching Season 1 after 4-5 episodes bc I just couldn't take it anymore. Can you start watching this season without needing to watch Season 2? Also, if I hated season 1, is it possible that I would enjoy this season? Or are they still kinda similar?

it's a brand new setting and town they are living in, so in that regard you don't need to watch season 1 since you have a general idea of the show.

However, they are still very similar. If you stopped last season, I don't think anything we've seen in 2 eps will want you to start watching again.

I did enjoy Cousin Larry faking his departure and getting caught.

I think it was a power play. It's definitely lending that storyline for starting to fall back on the son joining the cult, except wife having to go find ex husband and ex husband saving the son

Because many people believe that the Disappearances were the Rapture, he has been unable to accept the fact that he was not Taken (being a "man of God" and all). As a result, he published a newsletter which spread rumors all the human frailties of many of the people who were taken. He is trying to prove (to himself?) that it was not really the Rapture, because the people Taken were not "good."

He is also the brother of the former Sheriff's girlfriend.

A very flawed and interesting character.

God please say the cult won't be a big part of this season. They are just HUGELY unlikable to the point they aggravate me from even wanting to watch. The book guy basically hit it on the head "What the hell do you idiots believe in????? Show some damn feeling!!!!" Man that entire group is annoying as hell.

The Travis County courthouse is there in a couple spots too. The hallway when Nora and Kevin go to the courthouse to adopt Lily was the inside, and the scene where Laurie gets out of jail was shot outside.

With the MIT dudes trying to study the dinner table and the idea that there could be another vanishing, I am inclined to say the girls' absence is NOT a vanishing 2.0 but just a tease. Perhaps the girls got swallowed into the earth while swimming.

We have already seen the fissure in the street. Perhaps the "miracle" is that this town had no vanishings because those that vanished went to heaven, and no one in this town "met those standards" because they are so spiritually close to Hell. The concept of a hellmouth has been around for a while.

How's this for a theory...

Perhaps Holy Wayne really is holy and has healing powers.
He impregnated those hot ass Asian chicks to spread his abilities to as much of the next generation as possible.
Perhaps Meg (Liv Tyler) knows about Wayne & knows (or believes) he gave his ability to Tom (Laurie's son).
She raped Tom to impregnate herself so that she can have a magic baby.
Holy Wayne's baby that the main character (Kevin) and his new girlfriend (Nora) adopted may have special powers that we'll learn about later.

Or maybe Holy Wayne had no powers at all. Perhaps he was just a smooth talker who could convince people that they feel better because he hugged them and all of this magical baby stuff is a complete waste of everyone's effort & time...which is actually very likely.

So was she lying? I took the girls running naked through the woods to be probably after the so called "disappearance".

So far this season is better than last I think.

Patti has no idea if the girls vanished. She's a figment of Kevin's imagination, so she can only know what Kevin knows. But then again, it's possible that he saw exactly what happened to them since he was in the area and has simply forgotten.

I'm not sure if she is real or not. She directed him right to his phone, and the crazy guy living on the tower, connected to the believer son of John Murphy, asked who his friend was after Patti told him the girls disappeared. She also mentioned it was an act of God that kept him alive. Maybe Kevin is going crazy but maybe he is some type of messenger who is being protected/tormented for a greater purpose.

I dunno. This show is weird, but I'm interested to see where it's going since Game of Thrones is still a few months away.
