Wow, if you haven't read the book that trailer gives away every huge plot point of the book.

Yeah, that's a pretty common problem I see with most trailers lately - they build suspense through music and images pretty well, but leave nothing in question when it comes to plot points.
Today is the first I've heard of this movie. Looking forward to it.
Looks AWESOME!! Very excited and loved the book!

I saw the Trailer when it came out. Knew nothing of it and thought, Why the **** havent I read the book?

Glad I read the book before seeing the trailer! I'd have been disappointed to have the plot spoiled for me.

I really didnt think what was shown in the trailer would happen in the book.
But they really need to do a better job not telling the whole movie in trailers.

Release date moved up to October 2 (from November 25)! After the super positive buzz in reaction to the trailer, Fox is hoping to capitalize on the same release date/window as Gravity two years ago.
Probably a good idea. November and December are stacked.
I know this is a movie me and my then 11 year old will enjoy.

Yes, Matthew McConaughey's character is played by a puppet and voiced by James Earl Jones doing a Texan accent.
They gave way too much away in the trailer. That was horrible.

The prequel actually. The Martian takes place prior to Matt Damon's fateful journey during which he gets stuck on an ice planet. He meets up with Matthew Mcconaughey...hilarity ensues.
Mark Watney has problems with his newfound fame so he changes his name to Mann and goes back to lead the Lazarus missions.

I finally watched the trailer for the Martian. I don't no why the trailer didn't just consist of the Mars team landing, the team performing some of their duties, the storm hitting, Watney being blown away, the NASA director announcing Watney's death, and then end with the shot of Watney waking up buried in the sand on Mars.
There was absolutely no need to talk about the shuttle resupplying with Earth for the rescue mission.

If you liked this book I recommend reading or listening to Ready Player One. I'm about 75% through it and have really enjoyed it so far. It's the first book to hook me since I listened to The Martian.

Both great books.
Just finished this book and freaking loved it. Just briefly re-looking over the cast, I would have cast Johansen as someone a bit older (was actually picturing Wiig in that role), but I think they did a great job overall. Excited to see Donald Glover and Wiig get a shot at something more dramatic.

About 6 hours into the audio book and loving it! Intense stuff. Not happy with Damon but hopefully he can pull off an amazing character.

I'm not a Damon fan or hater, but by the trailer he's spot on portraying Watney.
Holy crap, just took a long road trip and this book is one of my fav now. Can't wait for the movie... Not a Matt Damon fan but it looks good in trailer. I so home they keep the aqua man discussion on his log. I lmao when that came up

The book spent a lot of time on him simply surviving without Earth even knowing he's alive and before it alerted the crew. I think the movie will speed up the timeline worrying that him pooping on and cultivating his plants is just not exciting enough; and will spend a higher percentage of time on the crew coming back to rescue him than the book.
