Who know how reliable this is, if at all, but interesting none-the-less...

Nobody doubles down like WB/DC.

Everyone hates a movie? Greenlight the sequel! Without the most popular character! And without the promised hyped-up director!

Can't get the movie you have scheduled for less than a year out made (Flash)? Double your commitment for the following year and going forward.

I just watched suicide squad for the first time. Terrible.

I'm still confused if this joker/Batman are supposed to be the same as Nolan's

no. Nolan's is in an alternate, viable and entertaining Universe.

This one is in a universe where WB monkey writers come up with short-sighted plans and scripts.

Suicide Squad was hilariously bad. I enjoyed Deadshot but that's about it. Killer Croc was an embarrassment. Katana's 15-second backstory and a "her sword will steal your sword" line... that doesn't make her into an actual character.

Scott Eastwood's bro-y soldier character had more lines than half of the squad! Amazing stuff.

And the Joker... WOOF. So terrible.

Edit: just watched on HBOGo.

this wasn't all that bad...

then again, her continually having to remind the audience that they're bad guys by telling us got annoying.

That one scene at the pub was possibly the only good scene of them as a squad. Felt more like David Ayer than the rest of the film and I wonder if the film would have had more of a feel in sync with that scene if he had more direct control and more time to develop the film. Oh well.

I really thought Katana was going to be quickly killed off just like the other guy after the non-existent intro.

That entire movie was complete **** with the exception of deadshot and Harley Quinn.

Seriously though, what was good about either one of them? Yeah Will Smith is fine, but again, all the forced emotion crap between him and his daughter, him and Harley felt really disingenuous. Harley pining when she thought joker was dead and trying to act fine when she met back up with the squad..ugh.

You make great points. It was an enjoyable movie to watch, but zero staying power. Can anyone say that this lingers at all after they watch it?

I enjoyed it, but I don't try to me Mr. Movie Critic, especially with comic book movies. I just turn my brain off for a bit and have fun. It wasn't as much fun as Marvel movies, but none of the DC movies are.

Oh, I get what you're saying, and trust me, with Suicide Squad I went in with absolutely zero expectations of greatness. However, I still walked out of it amazed at how bad it was.

Yeah, I can turn my brain off to an extent and enjoy a mindless film, but there's a point where bad is just bad.

When I'm genuinely distracted in a film because the choices the characters are making don't make sense and things seem to happen just randomly, that's a bad movie.

Not having read the comic books (or watched the show), I've never been able to think of how a Flash movie should feel like (granted, I'm clearly not in the film industry, but the best I could come up with is a heist film). But now (and I know Zemeckis being attached is barely a possibility) this at least makes me better understand the concept of a Flash movie.

Wonder Woman finally gets her own movie and the movie marketing machines for DC and Warner Bros. haven't seemed to have chugged to life.

We're less than six weeks out. There's been more advertising for Justice League than the movie that's supposed to kick off the whole JLU film arc. On Warner Bros.' YouTube Channel, Wonder Woman has only three trailers to Justice League's six. Where are the TV commercials and product tie-ins (yes, I know about Dr. Pepper, other ones please)? Batman and Supes both had their own breakfast cereal, so where's my Wonder Woman cereal, General Mills? I've seen toys but no toy commercials.

I will say that I'm still curious about how the movie looked before they did all the reshoots and story changes.

They seem to be spending more money on marketing than they did for Suicide Squad, at least?

Well, she writes for SyFy Fangrls, so obviously, BvS doesn't count.

The whole women in comics/marketing thing bothers me. On one hand, I see their argument. Women heroes should be treated the same as male heroes in terms of spotlight. On the other hand, at some point everyone needs to recognize the reality that men and women consume these products differently.

While true, I think there's also a lot of marketability to them.

We'd all be in line for a Joss Whedon Batgirl film and could totally get most wives and girlfriends on board too.

The data shows a large amount of female comic book readers these days. According to google, in 2014 a study showed 46.67% of readers to be female.

The notion that girls don't read comics or buy comic products is pretty outdated. That's the kind of thinking that led to studio interference with Iron Man 3 (villain was originally going to be a female and it got vetoed), or the Age of Ultron toy controversy (Black Widow on a motorcycle was in every commercial, but the Lego set was Iron Man on a motorcycle).

I don't think Wonder Woman looks very good or is very interesting, but maybe it will help put an end to some of these comic book movie / merchandise myths.

Edit: not that this is what you were saying, Alias, it's just an interesting note in a way. I'm glad that Kevin Feige reports to Disney now instead of the old-guard Marvel guy (Perlmutter, I think), should help avoid studio meddling.
