We knew from earlier trailers that Bruce Banner makes an appearance, but this trailer shows us a wrist device that keeps the Hulk at bay, and the Hulk also appears in this movie

Not really a spoiler, device was introduced and explained in she hulk and was on his arm in Shang Chi post credit scene back in 2021.

Nobody watched she hulk and nobody paid attention to his wrist in a confusing after-credits scene in Shang Chi.

I feel like this is smoke and mirrors….weve already seen a good bit of villains revealed in the trailer with the main one is rumored to be jean grey…or some iteration of her since this being can overtake people's minds…

Unless it's another villain that is in control of her or someone she's working for…which if so who could that be? If it is Jean is there anyone that would fall into that category I'm not good on my x-men history

Nope, it's a secret DC crossover and the big bad is Dogwelder. His power is exactly what it sounds like.

What was the villain from the cartoon storyline where spider man turned into an actual spider? Because that's what this whole mutation thing he's going through feels like.

Salt, grain, etc.

According to a recent rumor from insider Daniel Richtman (via Comic Book), Disney is looking to cast Sabrina Carpenter in a major upcoming MCU role, which fellow insider Jeff Snider suggests is likely Emma Frost. Since the report, fans on Reddit have suggested she'd be more suited for the role of Dazzler.

Dazzler? Sure.

Emma Frost? Ugh, no.

I don't know either of those characters.

Both are mutants. Dazzler is a musician and really only noteworthy for being a brief part of the Phoenix saga, as well as being in the old X-Men arcade game.

Emma Frost is much more important as a character, initially a villain (as part of the Hellfire Club) but eventually an X-Men teacher and love interest to Psyclops (when Jean is dead again). She was played by January Jones in X-Men: First Class. Horribly miscast. She's kind of an X-Men mainstay from 2000 onward, so barely in the old 90s cartoon but a bigger deal in the modern age than many of the old favorites probably are.

Dazzler is a dumb character and worthless. Was back then; still is.

Sounds perfect for Sabrina Carpenter!

I feel like Taylor Swift was rumored for Dazzler a few years ago and I wonder if she's basically aged out, or isn't interested anymore, and so they pivoted to Carpenter?

Aren't they going for a younger vibe with this round of X-men? I do remember at least the Swiftees pushing for her as Dazzler, but yeah, she's def too old now.

With Marvels tracks record of losing money when featuring female characters, they simply can't afford her.

Agreed. you don't more bombs like Black Panther 2 ($453m domestic / $859m global) or Captain Marvel ($426m / $1.13 bn) on your hands.

Post Avengers carried them, I would love to see it now......they would tank.

Also both movies sucked, even the last jedi made money.

Captain Marvel came out before Endgame or Infinity War.

Sorry.

To be fair Captain Marvel came out in between Infinity war and Endgame. You'll remember at the end of infinity war right before Nick Fury disappears his pager is calling captain marvel. There's no way people were gonna watch infinity war, skip captain marvel, then go watch Endgame. I think most people were decently excited to see Captain Marvel but in reality it made a billion dollars because of its introduction right before Endame.

Inde Navarette (Obsession) has been talking to Jason Schrier (next X-Men director. Kitty Pryde seems obvious but she is too old. Maybe Rogue? Magic?

I think she'd be a good Rogue if she could get the accent down.

Exactly, it was carried. But in the end it could have made 5 billion, it was still a terrible movie.

Man. Can someone explain to me why? As the genre peters out a bit, and it's a reset or fresh start of sorts (compared to FFH which followed Endgame and NWH which had all the rumors and leaks), why is this one the colossal one? Did they wait the perfect amount of time rather than milk a franchise for all it's worth and kill the whole thing? Etc.

- Spider-Man is probably the most popular/beloved on-screen superhero.

- We haven't seen him on screen in five-years (the longest gap so far since Holland's version has been introduced).

- Marvel has sucked during that time and, despite superhero fatigue, audiences are probably more than ready for a good/reliable Marvel blockbuster (one that directly precedes the next Avengers movie).

- The last installment left us on a bit of a cliffhanger, character-wise, and finally teased/set up the "classic" Spider-Man everyone knows and loves (no Stark tech, struggling, living alone, etc).

- Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink have continued to skyrocket in terms of popularity with younger crowds.

- It's widely known among fans that Sadie Sink is almost assuredly playing Jean Grey, our first new X-Men character since the Disney/Marvel acquired Fox.

Overall, I agree that it's a bit surprising, and it's weird to me that the movie has no central villain in the marketing, which I figured would be a big detractor. But when you break it all down, I can understand why it's also feeling like a bit of a perfect a storm in terms of audience appetite.

I'm a little worried it will suffer from the Spider-man 3 problem of to many villains. Rumors of Scorpion, Tombstone, Boomerang, Tarantula, Ramrod, the Hulk, Jean Gray will probably start as a misunderstood villain. We'll see...
rhutton125
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Surely some of these will be knocked out via montage, almost like Fantastic Four.

That's 100% what I'm thinking. They'll establish what he's been doing since everyone was made to forget who he is.

Even though Downey Jr and Evans are back, it's weird how B team this feels, seeing the various "teams" presented for the first time. Granted, there will no doubt be surprise appearances, and I'm still excited to see all these characters interact. But man, it definitely has a somewhat "sauceless" vibe compared to the last two Avengers movies. Hopefully the trailer this month goes a long way toward changing that...

I agree, and while there's multiple reasons for it, the biggest is simply what we've all said on here numerous times....Phases 4 and 5 just fizzled out and didn't really produce any heroes that gained traction with the audience so now without any true buildup they're just desperately throwing out Doom and hurriedly bringing back "the big guns" Evans and RDJ. This isn't a meal that's been put together with fresh ingredients and slowly brought to a simmer until its perfectly cooked. It's a bland processed frozen dinner thrown into the microwave real quick in the essence of saving time.

I still have doubts how successful the MCU will be after the spectacles of Doomsday and Secret Wars die down and we move forward into the new world they're creating.
