Bucky looks more like Kurt Russell than his own son does

Lewis Pullman is obviously playing Sentry, but I find it funny that we have yet another blockbuster where his name - "Bob" - is played somewhat for laughs (Top Gun: Maverick being the other).

****in' love me some Thunderbolts. This is very different than most runs of the comic, but hopefully it'll capture that tone and spirit.

Historically some of the 'bolts are villains who want to go good, but some are just kinda bad. These all seem pretty good or close-to-good. We shall see.

Yep, been waiting for the lame pot shots at Florence Pugh to start from the usual suspects. Didn't let me down.

A few pages back there was a nice little Florence Pugh fight, but she looks beautiful in this role.

bob reynolds. meth addict.

also one of the single most powerful characters in all of Marvel with a ridiculous list of powers

another super soldier project reject experiment. more or less. marvel comics attempt to create another older character by retconning him into present day continuity

character is mentally unstable due to a lot of mucking around with his brain by telepaths and other characters

recently replaced in marvel comics with a bi-racial female character with cerebral palsy. because of course, why not.

I actually know a biracial man with cerebral palsy. He is also gay. So he's probably REALLY mad.

Sentry has one of the messiest portrayals in all of Marvel comics. Initially he was Bob Reynolds, and unbeknownst to everyone on earth (including himself) he's the Sentry, a golden god of unimaginable power. He begins uncovering this truth about himself, as he fears the return of the Void (his archnemesis), and gradually characters begin to remember his involvement in their history. For example, he was Best Man in Reed Richards' wedding, and he was one of the original Avengers, but somehow everyone forgot.

In the end, it's revealed that the Void is an alternate persona of the Sentry, and Doctor Strange and Reed Richards eventually mind-wiped the world to prevent the Void from being unleashed upon the world. They do that again, and the Marvel Universe says goodbye to its greatest champion (and greatest villain) just as it began to remember him again.

But because comics have no nuance - especially when it comes to mental health! - he was brought back again and again and his origin got more and more convoluted. Eventually he joins the Avengers, but because he could end any fight in a split second, he gets taken out in cheap ways (usually panicking and flying away, or breaking down in tears and leaving the fight to the other heroes).

So the short version is... he's Superman but schizo. That's probably what we'll get in Thunderbolts - survivor of some experiments that left him as strong as the Hulk, but mentally unstable - and he may not even know it.

I hope Marvel doesn't rest on its laurels thinking the brand will carry an infinite number of movies. So far good stories have been the star and the better stories have gotten better box office results, even within the Marvel brand.
DR Horrible very prescient on Day 1 of the thread

I was surprised at how people interpreted the Deadpool joke completely differently than I did.

The "there's only ever gonna be one Blade", in my mind, was a clear reference to the years of development hell and that it was likely never going to happen.

But a lot of people thought DP's look to the camera was because the movie was being made.

I still maintain the first one is what the joke was.

I'm with you. I also thought the only way they could get Wesley Snipes in the movie was him being able to make a stab at that process.
