I honestly have no idea how true it is, but it's on the internet, and a simple Google search brings up consistent results….so there's that

Not sure on the science, but it's basically true. Not sure how to do it on Android, but if you're on an iPhone got to the accessibility settings and find the color filter settings. Turn that thing all the way red. In addition to your phone screen looking wicked awesome, you'll feel like the brightness got turned down a bunch even though it's still the same. I use that filter in the evenings to help with my sleep routine.

Like this! It does look pretty cool.

Well dang. The filter doesn't show up on a screencap.

Official numbers for Madam Web are out on box office mojo….

For the typical Thur-Sun opening weekend, it grossed a grand total of: $17,489,467

Wasn't he fired because he beat someone up, rather than because the movie failed?

I think it's poorly worded. After Ant-Man failed, they were already talking about moving away from Kang. All that before he was fired for beating up his girlfriend

Yeah, I think that was probably meant to read more like "Marvel was reportedly moving away from Kang after Quantumania failed even before Jonathan Majors was fired".

I disliked the character almost the second he came onscreen in Loki. Never got what people saw in the character. The least intimidating big bad ever.

I know this isn't the thread, but damn I'm still so annoyed by this. OU (and later the NFL) had video of how completely violent and unwarranted that was and he was protected.

This showed up on the Marvel thread for me. Is this the new big bad? If so, I am in.

It is disgusting. Truly abhorrent. I honestly think that was the beginning of my descent in to utter apathy about sports.

* yes. poorly acted. nothing about his character was even remotely at all like any iteration of the kang character.

it was spastic overacting by someone we now know is a horrible person.

Yes. I liked regular Quantumania Kang alright but I did not need overacted Cyborg Kang, Egyptian Kang or any other.

And Victor Timely was the worst offender! "Is t-t-t-that a……. C-c-c-c-cocoa machine?!?!?!?"

The original performance in Loki season 1 as "He Who Remains" was fantastic and I won't back down from that opinion. I was super excited for the future of that role.

Quantamania was a step down

Victor Timey was …. odd….

This.

For me, his initial appearance was definitely the high point. Unfortunately, every appearance after got progressively worse.

As disappointing as Kang was, I still want to know where they were planning to go with that whole storyline. Victor Timely was Kang the Conqueror in the comics, right? Did the whole spaghetti thing in the TVA happen to Timely in the comics?

It's insane to me that they didn't take a beat after Endgame to figure out even the broad strokes of the next stage. They introduced Kang on a whim in Loki, and based on that single performance, in only one episode, decided on the fly to make him the big bad of the entire MCU going forward. That absolutely blows my mind. Pre-Endgame and post-Endgame really does feel like two completely different companies were in charge.

The thing is that I can see how He Who Remains could have been a really cool villain, agreed with y'all that really loved the character and performance at the end of Loki s1.

But yeah, it was like they had this great thing and didn't know what to do with it so they just...did everything.

That could be poor storytelling, but in this case the performance was so compelling that it was pretty fascinating. And while then we understood his story it still left all kinds of directions the story could have gone in.

I think sometimes things like "show don't tell" get oversimplified. It's absolutely a good general rule to follow, but at times rules can be broken to great results when executed with intention at a high level.

Victor Timely reminded me of Myles Garrett.

To be fair, though, He Who Remains wasn't written/introduced to necessarily be a character going forward. He was there strictly to serve Loki's and Sylvia's character development, by presenting them with a choice that would define their respective character arcs. That, and when exposition truly works is when it causes action, which is exactly what happened there at the end of the finale.

It wasn't until everyone was on set, watching Majors do his thing, that the powers that be realized they might have something. Which was then confirmed when the audience reacted equally as positive to his performance, and thus his status as the next big bad was solidified.

Otherwise, there's probably no way they would have debuted the new big bad that way.
