Is there a thread for Echo? I'm finishing episode 3 right now.

We barely finished through episode 2 of Echo and won't watch any more. We are a Marvel family, and my son is big time Marvel guy and just couldn't do any more after 2 episodes. It's plain awful. So disjointed, wasteless filler crap that goes on and on, and forced/expected characters that you are supposed to like and care about that are supposed to have quirky/funny attributes. It's simply low quality stuff that just doesn't work.

No wonder they only have 5 episodes and dropped all at once. And apparently it's only barely rated higher than Secret Invasion and She Hulk according to my son on RT and such. This seems worse than all of that.

Again, we only watched 2 and maybe it gets better, but not from what we have read and we aren't going to find out.

I'm through episode four of Echo, and I wouldn't say it's horrible, but it's definitely not good. Story is set up similar to Ms Marvel in that we have a lot of ancestral set up for the protagonist and there's an emphasis on cultural heritage - which is probably what I enjoy most about the series so far. Where it falls flat is that I don't really care about the modern Echo character. Having her story wrapped up in being a henchman for Kingpin and then trying to undo all of that backstory has seemed really clumsy to me. There's a redemption story trying to get through here somewhere but it's not really working. And the super powers feel really tacked on and poorly conceived. Maybe I'll feel differently after the finale, but I'm not hopeful.

Oh, sorry - the comparison to Ms Marvel is starkest to me when I think of how endearing and earnest of characters Ms Marvel and her family were. Echo has pretty much none of that heart for whatever reason. There's just not much effort made to fill that aspect out at all.

From what I hear the final episode 5 is way worse than the final episode of secret invasion for similar reasons….

Rumors have him showing up for one of, if not both of, the next two Avengers movies. Basically, if they've been in a Marvel movie at some point in the past 24 years, they're likely going to appear in some form or fashion in either Deadpool 3 or Avengers 5/6.

All I'm saying is if you need an action series fix go watch The Brothers Sun on Netflix.

Deadpool 3 aside I thought we were moving on from the multiverse after Loki. I guess not.

Secret Wars - the other Avengers title out there with the Kang Dynasty gone - is all about the multiverse, so unless they are scrapping that as well it's probably still prevalent.

Finished Echo tonight. It wasn't as bad as secret invasion, imo, but was very average. I don't mind the character in general, but there were really only 2 action scenes of her doing her thing. The mystical powers thing was weird.

Does the opening of the show count as actual nudity in the MCU?
Also, someone is going to have to explain to me how one survives a bullet through the eye socket.

Random thing I think some of yall may appreciate. I took my family on a Disney Cruise last week. We had a great time and one of the perks of this cruise was a Marvel Day. The parks are little much for our family, but we like the Disney experience on a cruise. The Mavel Day was certainly additive. We did a ton of character greets and they had Dr Strange stage show that was fun.

The highlight was a deck show ending in fireworks. Most of these are pretty cheesy and just worth it to get to the fireworks. The Marvel one was different. It was a great show. If you are going to go on one of these, don't read for spoilers.

Basically the premise was you were at a Stark Expo where Tony had invented something that could span multiverses. Things go wrong and you see this same event in different universes until they all get sucked to together. It winds up in a massive fight with over 20 heroes together vs tracksuit mafia/Loki/Taskmaster/Wanda. There is even a moment where T'Challa and Shuri reunite and was surprisingly emotional.

I have zero desire to go on a disney cruise but . . . that sounds awesome!

My half-baked idea for the day. Combine Madame Web with Florence Pugh's Black Widow iteration, making her more than just the black widow who doesn't wear black clothing.

I know the Sony/marvel dynamic is just one of the many reasons this wouldn't happen.

I'm sure this has been posted but I did not realize there was a Kraven movie coming out in the Sonyverse of Marvel. And apparently several other characters as well:

Watching The Marvels for the first time tonight. The entire opening part was essentially in the trailers. Now it's on a decided downward slope. Rock bottom is found with a society that communicates via song. Likely to be my only watch of this one.

It's an innocuous musical bit that last maybe two minutes, if that. It's honestly kind of funny.

It's silly and if you try to look past it you can. Wasn't my favorite, but the payoff of Brie in a dress is not bad, either.

No, not a musical any more than "Anything Goes" made The Temple of Doom a musical.

Overall, The Marvels is par for the course for Marvel post-Endgame. Meh at best. But question for those who have seen it - who was that in the mid-credits scene where Monica wakes up to find her mom who was supposed to be deceased? I thought some alternate X-Men, but surely that's nor who they were.

I had forgotten that Anything Goes was in Temple of Doom. But now I kinda remember.

Binary, which is one of Carol Danver's alter egos in the comics. She hung with the XMen a lot during that time.
