I'll only be convinced about the F4 castings when I see pictures of the actors on set.

i'll be that guy. I really don't care about the Fantastic Four.

I kind of don't either.

I'm interested in it from a casting standpoint, and its broader affect on the MCU, but I have zero affinity for the characters themselves, and I honestly find the overall concept to be pretty boring/vanilla.

Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised by the final product, though.

I'm really only looking forward to their part in Secret Wars, especially Reed's important role, which I wouldn't want to be given to another character.

I wouldn't recommend it. I like their other stuff a lot too, and nobody is better at high concept, low budget sci-fi and really interesting ideas... but I couldn't wait for that movie to end and after 45 minutes or so I realized it was just a bunch of nonsense

Five minutes before showtime and there's maybe 30 people here. In a 900-seat theater - the most popular theater in the world, in the heart of Hollywood - opening night of a Marvel movie. Never seen anything remotely like this. So depressing.

The movie doesn't even have its own thread on TexAgs because nobody thought it was worth the effort.

Eh it wasn't awful.

Kamala is a fun character.

I had a good time. Kamala and Monica are great. Also her family is incredible. And they let Carol start to recover her memories so she is way more human in this one. I could have dropped the musical sequence. Villain was lackluster but I got the motivation. The body teleporting was clever and made for some fun in the combat and enjoyed the training sequence they did.

But the movie did feel small and almost feels like they could have made this season 2 Ms Marvel almost. Like the water planet and musical sequence could have been its own episode. Was a little disjointed at times.

One hell of a teaser though in mid credits.

Oh and whoever said that Secret Invasion would play into this was talking out of their ass. I feel like that was something marketed about it and it didn't come up once. It was mind boggling, not even a mention of skrulls being hunted down by the president or anything

I did like the scott pilgrim visuals pop up from the TV show at the beginning with Kamala.

Ya I just got out of my showing. I binged Ms. Marvel last week and Secret Invasion this week (each for the first time) to try to have it all as recent in my memory as possible. This movie starts from the literal last scene of Ms. Marvel and seems to have no ties to Secret Invasion whatsoever.

Decent movie. It was fun for the first half and then boring for the rest. Iman Vellani is great and the Nick Fury impersonation was hilarious.

Why is our former WR coach directing Daredevil?

Probably because of the Favreau connection since they were in Swingers together.

Just watched the mid credit scene. This has just turned into a "hey look at this cameo" and the crowd eats it up.

I was already on the fence about going, mainly just to see what the credit scenes were about. Now I can just wait for the movie to come out on demand.

Overall, it's a lot of fun and legit funny. Echoing what everyone else is saying, Kamala Khan/Iman Vellani is easily the standout, and absolutely steals the show in that regard.

There's one sequence, in particular, that is maybe the goofiest thing in any Marvel movie, including even the Guardians trilogy, that is just so ridiculously absurd, but had our audience absolutely howling. Like, genuinely laughing, really, really hard.

So it's worth seeing for the fun and humor alone.

Heck, even Brie Larson is charming and likable this go-around.

That said, while the plot makes sense on paper, for whatever reason, while you're watching, it feels convoluted as hell, in the most cosmic, sci-fi way. And is fairly insignificant, big picture. There are also a few weird editing/pacing issues here and there, but none of it ruins the experience by any means.

Ultimately, I can't say that you need to see it in the theater - I totally get why people are staying home - but it's definitely worth seeing at some point. With a better script, I'd even be open to director Nia DaCosta tackling a bigger Marvel property/installment, if only because she seems to have a real command of the material, and delivers energetic performances, solid, inventive action, a brisk pace, and bright, bold colors. It just has a nice energy that's lacking from certain other Marvel movies.

I'd say like ten of the thirty or so people in our theater absolutely lost their minds at that cameo. Like full on screamed in delight.

Personally, I'm with you. I really, really, really hope Deadpool 3 is the last of the Fox X-Men. They have to let that sh*t go, and every time they reference it, it feels like it's muddying the new iteration more and more, whenever it may come.

Also, Beast somehow looked worse here than he did a decade/decade+ ago. The practical makeup is so much better than the CGI crap in this version.

With only one MCU movie now scheduled for next year, I'm honestly glad that we - and the franchise - are finally getting a breather, at least theatrically. Seeing as the MCU desperately needs to take a beat, see what happens with Jonathan Majors' trial next month, regroup, and then come back strong with (glorious) purpose in 2025.

Deadpool 3 feels like it's going to be a palette cleanser of sorts, as it's rumored to say goodbye to the Fox X-Men once and for all, while setting a new course for the MCU (with Mobius and Miss Minutes rumored to appear, which would obviously further add to the timeline shenanigans). So it feels like the perfect stopgap, in the middle of next summer, before all these movies that have been in development for years and years finally start being released in 2025.

Speaking of, how crazy is it that both the MCU and the DCU are now essentially taking 2024 off (theatrically), and then coming back strong (and completely fresh in the case of the DCU) in 2025? Joker: Folie a Deux is the only DC movie releasing in 2024, and then the DCU begins with Superman: Legacy on July 11, 2025, now just two weeks prior to Thunderbolts.

It'll be weird having Deadpool as the only Marvel movie in 2024. Couple that with Joker being the only DC movie and it's just a weird year.

I know in the multiverse anything can be anything, but is Deadpool really in the MCU? I may have missed the connection somewhere.
