Is Ant-Man in this somewhere?
He is on Iron Man's right shoulder. This poster is the high-resolution one.

Who said they were unaware of aliens before Thor/Avengers?

I may be forgetting exactly all the movies, but I don't remember anything to indicate anyone was aware. Just seems like it's going to be a ret-con.

Iron Man did in Iron Man 3. That was the reason for his "meltdown". After the events of the Avengers he was concerned with the existence of aliens and spent all his time building new suits

Stark might not have known, but that doesn't mean SHIELD didn't (despite his hacking of SHIELD's servers in the first Avengers). The mere knowledge of the existence of aliens isn't necessarily the same as the knowledge that certain aliens represent an existential threat to Earth. That looming existential threat as well as a smattering of PTSD are the reason for Stark's meltdowns and anxiety issues in IM3.

But he wasn't aware of SHIELD before the first Iron Man. I'm not saying he didn't say that, it just seems like at some point before The Avengers and/or Tony Stark joining up that SHIELD would have likely had some kind of knowledge of aliens/other dimensions. Especially considering the events of Captain America: The First Avenger with the Tesseract and all that.

Exactly. My guess is that SHIELD and SSR before that was segmented like any other government bureaucracy with little or no communication of certain information between different segments or factions.

I'm sure having a HYDRA fifth column inside from almost the beginning didn't help this either.

So Captain Marvel is set in the 90s. That should be a lot of fun and maybe even get to see some younger characters we already know.
If a Danger Zone/Top Gun reference scene doesn't happen, we riot

I wouldn't consider Captain Marvel being two decades back as a Wonder Woman ripoff, but I guess I do wonder why it's set at that time. Brie Larson is one of the youngest actors in the MCU, so I guess there will be something to explain the time jump? If she's an Air Force pilot in the 90s, she sure ain't playing a 45 y/o in 2019.

My interest is piqued. Skrulls and Nick Fury. My dream of a Rhodey appearance took a hit but surely at least 0.1% of this will take place in the modern day, since she's likely part of Avengers 4.
Guessing her powers let her age slowly . . . maybe?

That's right. The events of Thor also happened before Avengers/Iron Man 3 so even Stark should have been aware in the first Avengers

As was mentioned above, it could be her powers (as you also said), she could have been in some kind of stasis/suspended animation for a while, relativistic time dilation due to some kind of light speed travel that's more primitive than what we see in GotG or Thor, etc...

Stark's PTSD isn't because he freaked out that aliens existed. It's that he crossed into another universe, saw horrors he couldn't unsee, and then almost plummeted to his death.

In the first Avenger movie, Nick Fury admits that Shield is developing the "Phase 2" weapons from the Tessaract as a counter measure because they were "hilariously unprepared" to combat alien lifeforms in Thor 1. It didn't sound like someone who had fought an army of Skrulls

I'm fine with them retconning with some plot gimmick (eg having Fury's memories erased), but if it's set in the 90's Sam Jackson better be sporting his Pulp Fiction afro.

This is probably the best argument, from a movie standpoint. I just remembered the Agents of SHIELD showed a Kree body that was used to bring Coulson back...but I don't remember how they got it.

Still, if Cpt Marvel happens in the 90s, one would assume the name Carol Danvers would have come up at some point.

not unless she left earth after the 1st movie, and comes back to earth following thanos.

they have to deal with all of the Captain Marvell tie-in

I have always been of the assumption that Captain Marvel is a space-based character, so she may have never returned to Earth after getting her cosmic powers. That would easily explain why no one on Earth has heard of her.

And maybe her cosmic powers enable her to live much longer (not age normally)? That would make sense.

So based on what we've seen in the Thor and Avenger's trailers my prediction is:

Loki teams up with Thor & friends to beat Hela. Loki then betrays Thor to Thanos which leads to him getting the gauntlet and tesseract and destroys Asgard.

I'm assuming Loki, who was last seen impersonating Odin, will lead Asgard to war against Hela in hopes of acquiring something from her (this would be the Pegasus attack we've seen in the trailers). But the attack will fail and backfire by drawing Hela's wrath to Asgard, setting the rest of the movie's events in motion.

I just found this thread. I would like to say three things:

First, the infinity war movies are going to hilariously break every box office record ever.

Second, I think Thanos' head looks weird without the crown or whatever you would call it. It's too big to not have something on it. Reminds me of Frankenstein.

And finally, I love reading about what's coming out but seeing this stuff makes me so impatient, because it's all very exciting and looks so cool but then you realize you have to wait a long time for it to come out.

We are luckily getting the most content so the waits aren't as long as they used to be. 3 movies a year and 3 Netflix series a year for the foreseeable future.

Imagine being a kid from 1977-1983.

It seemed like an eternity between Star Wars movies for me. And I didn't have the internet to share stories with; I just had to create my own Star Wars movies with my action figures to pass the time.

True. There is a lot of content. I do feel like I've been waiting for Black Panther forever though. And now I'm very excited for Captain Marvel, which feels like it's forever from now until it comes out.

I will say the one good thing is that they push back release dates if needed in order to make sure the movies are good. And for that I'm glad.

Haha good point! I'm not trying to say that I don't feel spoiled by all the stuff we have available.

But, in a way, the internet and access to information makes the wait seem incredibly long. There are teasers, leaked images, videos, conferences, etc. It feels like a slow bleed.

Thor: Ragnarok to be Marvel's shortest film

Quote:

Taika Waititi : "The cut right now, I reckon it's about 100 minutes. It's not gonna be a very, very long film. I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it's got stuff happening all the time. I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end, they've been on this big journey and stuff, so I don't think we need the film to be three hours."
"That just leaves room for 30 minutes of post-credit sequences"/Kevin Feige

I wonder how long the infinity war movies are gonna be. I feel like those need to be upwards of two hours. Maybe just at or a little longer than Civil War. Feels like they'd need that much time to tell the stories correctly, and give each character an adequate role.
