And not a series with one overall plotline. No, I want them to be taking on minor supervillains every episode. Can't Marvel do just one of those "villain of the week" style shows? Why does everything have to be one epic story?

Agents of Shield did that in the first season. Most people disliked that.

I didn't like her in Westworld, but she was great in Creed, so I'm hoping with the right direction she'll be awesome.

I'm still excited for Thor: Ragnarok but I don't like the design of Hela or Valkerie from this one picture. Here is the concept art that was released for Hela which had me really excited.

Now, this is EW and none of their photoshoots have really done anything for me, so hopefully it's just an EW thing and there's nothing to worry about.

EW is notorious for having super sh*tty cover images. I don't know why anyone still uses them for stuff like this. Feels so archaic.

Did they intend for Thor to look like Ron Perlman?

Short hair Thor wasn't worthy of the hammer in the comics, but they already did that storyline.

There are some additional pics out there - I think this one looks a LOT better than that EW cover.

Not much that wouldn't look better than that cover. Not having a fifth grade art class select the type would've also helped.

I'm getting a distinct Guardians of the Galaxy vibe with those photos. WAY more colorful and "fun" than the last two movies.

Seriously, if you told me these two photos were from GotG 2, and I didn't know the cast, I wouldn't even question it...

This might be the connecting tissue to get Guardians to earth and not have it be complete culture shock.

I don't understand Taj's point but trust in Marvel to make it.

100% agree

I legitimately saw that photo of Goldblum and said "What the hell? He was the Collector, not the Grandmaster."

What I meant was that GotG has a different, stand alone nature to its tone, the way it looks, the world that they live in. If you take out Thanos, then you can say that it is a completely separate movie from the Avengers.

In Infinity War, they are going to meet the Avengers. Thor Raganarok can serve as a bridge between GotG and Avengers. In the case of these pictures, the color palette is very similar. If you look at the latest GotG Vol. 2 trailer, it is a colorful trailer. That's the same vibe/tone that these pictures give. I can totally buy GotG living in the same universe as Thor now without someone just saying that they do.

well, TBH, we've only really ever experienced the Thor universe in just Asgard, and a few far off realms that are wastelands. We haven't really seen how the common folk live in the Thor universe.

Technically, Earth - or Midgard - is in the "Thor" universe. We are all to familiar with how the common folk live there.

I've skimmed through a few reviews for Iron Fist and most have been just awful. Even the best reviews are lukewarm at best. This may be the MCU's first real stinker (at least critically).

Very disappointing. I'm hoping that the second half of the season somehow gets it together but that seems unlikely.

Maybe the Defenders showrunners will get more out of the character than the Iron Fist showrunners have so far.

This does not make me happy, especially since he's actually a pretty interesting character.

Wait, that EW cover was real and not some kind of joke?
Those are the front cover story headlines on a professional publication?

Oh dear. I thought it was like...a jokey type thing. not a real thing.

Some of the reviews I've read are saying that episode 6 is a lot better than the first 5. Maybe there's a chance the second half of the season will be better.

ahhh... the "Walking Dead" model of 5-6 bad episodes where nothing happens then a cliffhanger to bring everyone back for the other half of the season

I really hope Defenders is good. I also hope that Marvel/Netflix series go down to 8 episodes per season.

Off the wall question:

Did anyone figure out what the deal is with Black Panther's ring and WInter Soldier's metal arm? I was watching Civil War again and recalled that weirdness.

I'm guessing more will be revealed in the Black Panther movie.

Wakandan Tech that hasn't been explained yet. Maybe they will explain it more in Black Panther, but I think it was to show how advanced his technology is. It's also touched on in the post credit scene they show the lab in Wakanda with everything there.

rhutton125

It is a really weird moment, for sure. If it's Wakandan tech, then it seems to be interfering with his ability to fight Bucky, so I don't think that's it.

If it's meant as a moment where Bucky overpowers him, it's still weird because the camera seems to emphasize the ring.

The ring seems to symbolize kingship, and perhaps it is vibranium, but it shouldn't "react" to anything on Bucky's arm like it seems to in that fight, so it's still a mystery to me.

Is Bucky's arm a normal metal, or something awesome like vibranium or adamantium?
rhutton125

Some normal type of metal - it's blown off in Civil War.

Almost positive it is vibranium. But reading over the wiki they just call it "a bionic arm" so I guess just steel and robotic enhancements.
