Twitter critics crapping on it tells me it's probably pretty good. Those are the same people that gushed constantly about the piles of **** Marvel has been putting out the last 4 years. Their opinions are usually completely backward from general America.

Nah. They're usually right when they say a movie sucks. Sony's track record supports this too.

This is another one of those TexAgs narratives that's just completely untrue. Do early critic reactions sometimes exaggerate, get caught up in the hype, etc? Absolutely. Is there an Oscar movie or two each year critics love that Average Joes aren't nearly as high on? Sure. But this idea that critics in general are consistently, flat-out wrong about Marvel movies/blockbusters just isn't a thing, and choosing a Sony Marvel movie, of all movies, as your example isn't doing your argument any favors.

Very quick research shows me that Morbius had 23% RT early on and is now at 15%
Madam Web was at 15% early on and is now at 11%.

Unrelated but do you see more of Hollywood twitter accounts migrating to blue sky or is twitter there to stay?

I've seen, like, individual creative types - a number of screenwriters, actors, etc - moving to Blue Sky, but hardly any actual entertainment reporters, journalists, critics, fan accounts, etc making the same jump/leaving Twitter behind. The latter knows the only real audience (in terms of numbers) is on Twitter. And I suspect a number of those who left will eventually be back.

That's what I thought but good to get that perspective. I think there is a rush by individuals to blue sky and more independent types but I doubt most established brands are leaving

Or at best maybe running both

Exactly. And I just keep hearing how boring/vanilla Blue Sky is, and that it doesn't have nearly the same amount of features. Granted, I've heard it's way more pleasant, way less toxic, etc, but overall it sounds like kind of a dud/echo chamber too.

Early impressions (a few weeks in) is that it feels like Twitter a while back when I followed artists and designers who just posted cool stuff.

It's hard to quantify any bad decision to make a movie because of how much money people are paid even before the thing ever reaches the theater, but it feels like every actor should hire someone their staff who has the job of answering one question before a contract is signed. That question is:

Is this going to be stupid?

That person should be vetted for years before getting the job and should be as objective as possible about everything there is in the entertainment business. Now there are various degrees of what stupid means. Aaron Taylor-Johnson's guy will say, "Yes, but you're the star of it, and there's a lot of action, and you get to have your shirt off most of the time, so go right ahead and stupid it up."

For Ariana DeBose, the answer is, "Yes, but you were in "Wish" last year, the most bland movie of all time, so nobody even cares. Get paid and then go back to Broadway where you belong."

But if you're Russell Crowe's guy, and you know he's already done two other superhero roles - the incredible Jor-El in Man of Steel and the kind of funny Zeus in Thor 4, and you know the history of live-action Spiderman spinoffs, and you know that this film is going to come out at the same time as Gladiator 2, you gotta tell him, "Yes, Russell, it's stupid, you can hold out for something far better if you need a pay day."

I thought we were supposed to see every film because we need to support this industry and these people have poured their hearts and souls and blood and sweat and tears into these works to provide entertainment to us?

It's the old Michael Caine quote about Jaws: The Revenge - "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

I've never said anything of the sort, but your continued obsession is noted, per usual. It's always been a balance between support, yes, but also not wanting to encourage more crap, by speaking with our wallets (or lack there of). Which, in this case, is working, as the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man-villain-verse is officially dead after this weekend, due to endless terrible reviews and bomb after bomb.

This is like my pitch to create a "normal people" hotlines, where celebrities, advertising people and politicians can call and ask a normal person "is what I'm about to do incredible stupid to a normal person"

the examples where this has been needed are endless.

Well, damn.

What is ADR?

"Automated Dialogue Replacement." When actors either re-record certain lines in post-production because of various sound issues on set the day they originally shot the scene(s) - or - when they record new lines during post-production, to help fill in blanks, add exposition, etc. Re: the latter, because there's obviously no previously-filmed lip movement, those added lines are often awkwardly spliced in, placed over shots when the actor is off screen, has his/her back to the camera, etc. Which, of course, can be a sign of either a badly-written script, one that didn't communicate effectively enough in the shooting draft, or bad coverage (meaning what was filmed from all various angles) when originally shooting the scene.

I love watching the Gordon Ramsey shows and Top Chef. It is so painfully bad when Gordon and Padma are spliced in to say something like "Come up to the stage." Or as the person walks away "What a disaster".

Here's what you didn't know you've been waiting for all day.

Highlights from the 1987 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Marvel Universe live-action float.

Naturally, it's played out to the theme from "Back to the Future".

Hulk appears to be a bad guy.

And while I know that Iron Man used to look different, someone convince me that's not just Robocop at the 42 second mark.

Two years later they used the same set, added "I Need a Hero, Magneto, Spidey, and made it that much better.
Shoutout to Willard Scott for taking the unnoticed jab at his co-host when she brings up both Metropolis and Wonder Woman incorrectly.

MySpace was the pinnacle.

I'd never heard of BlueSky until the podcasts I listen (mainly Euro soccer) started using them. Is this just a knockoff twitter because people hate Elon?

i never had an appreciation for actors having to do this until i saw a clip of hugh jackman doing this very thing for logan during the scene near the end where hes hoped up on the go-go juice....

i mean...holy crap these guys have to do tons of takes just to get a scene right once....and then do tons of takes again to get the scene right a second time just for sound.....

and since im sure as hell not going to make an official thread for this inevitable stinker....kraven the hunter is currently projecting 13 - 15 million opening box office....which is right on track for madam web but considering the following:

1. sony has announced there will be no more of these
2. the much stronger films currently showing that are clearly going to have more staying power
3. the knowledge of how bad madam web was and that this is in the same boat
4. one week later we're going to have: sonic 3 and mufasa
5. its rated R

this is looking to have an even lower box office showing than madam web.....

congrats sony.....you just keep finding ways to make things worse....

That was definitely Robo Cop, looks like Red/Yellow Iron man is waking around the street around the float, you can see his head and shoulders at 52 second mark.
