I think one of the writers mentioned awhile back that pagers and guns were not physically part of their person.
awesome, so there's a bunch of house\car keys, phones and wallets for the ones that are left.... maybe they are better off.

I hadn't thought of this before, but is Thanos our only villain for Endgame? In Infinity War, we had 5 villains (Thanos plus his kids) for a 2.5 hour movie that took place all over the universe. Now we're looking at a 3-hour movie with... one villain? Have I missed a memo about others?

I think the other enemy will just be the situation. Like in a heist movie where much of the plot revolves around preparation and passive conflict, I think you'll have an element like this.

You also have the whole "world is ending" part of the setting, so doing anything will be a challenge. I assume that Hawkeye/Ronin is slicing up people who were trying to take advantage of the chaos.

And maybe, at least briefly, Captain Marvel is perceived as a threat, or maybe actually gets in the Avengers' way as they try to do something that carries a TON of risk.

And depending on the possible time travel aspect and how it manifests, each of the Avengers could end up re-facing an old adversary as they try to change things.

Going through the IMDB for Endgame the only other villain I'm seeing at the moment is Crossbones, but he wasn't a main villain in Civil War, was only there for a short time so I'm thinking it's just Thanos. There could always be some surprises though. The Black Order was great, really enjoyed them.

I agree the main adversary for the majority of the film is going to be the situation rather than a villain per se, the whole thing will culminate in the penultimate showdown with Thanos.

IMDB could have some characters left out, I don't even see Benedict Cumberbatch listed, though Wong and The Ancient One are both there.

Wasn't Crossbones vaporized at the beginning of Civil War?

If it doesn't drop tomorrow, I could see it being mid-January or February before we get it. Tomorrow is obviously the one-two punch of Aquaman and Bumblebee, the last two blockbusters of the year, and I don't know what they're planning if they don't release it with those two. The trailer has been shown and registered publicly, we've got a runtime and everything, but tomorrow is the last day of the year that makes any sense whatsoever. Sony was also supposed to be debuting the Men In Black: International trailer soon, so maybe they release both tomorrow? Who knows at this point.

Scratch that. Just did some digging and I completely forgot about Holmes & Watson on Tuesday (the 25th), which is a Sony release. It's sounding like the Spider-Man and MiB trailers will be online around then, if not before.

MIB trailer is online.

By the way, my prediction for the Far From Home trailer has New York dealing with the after effects of the snap, which has apparently convinced Spiderman to turn to a life of crime and J Jonah Jameson is outraged. After Spiderman completes a bank robbery, the camera follows him where it is revealed that Mysterio has been pretending to be Spiderman after he disappeared.

Random offseason post, for anyone interested:

A while back, someone uncovered a live commentary of Iron Man 1 with RDJ and Jon Favreau. There's no commentary on the Blu-ray, so this was the only equivalent. I gave it a listen and decided to check out all the commentaries for MCU films, leading up to Infinity War's release.

In my mind, commentaries come in 3 flavors.

1) Stories and anecdotes about the actors and extras
(Incredible Hulk, Guardians 1 and 2, Iron Man 3, Ant-Man)

2) How things were filmed - what's CGI and what isn't, etc.
(Iron Man 1 and 2)

3) Why the story went a certain way, or the thought process behind the film
(Captain America trilogy, Thor, Black Panther, Avengers 1 and 2, Doctor Strange)

Of course, most are kind of a mix. James Gunn talks a lot about his friends and cameos but also some storytelling decisions. The Ant-Man commentary talks a little bit about the various previous versions of the script, but tactfully sidestepping the whole Edgar Wright thing pretty well.

Scattershooting:
1) The Thor Ragnarok commentary is BSC and very entertaining. It's just Taika Watiti doing a solo act. The first 1/3 is him going full comedy, the second 1/3 he starts talking about the story decisions and artistic vision, and in the final third, his two year old daughter comes into the room and adorably throws a wrench into the whole thing.

2) My appreciation for Thor 1 and Black Panther went up after listening to the commentaries. Kenneth Branaugh and Ryan Coogler share a lot about what it took to adapt these comics to film, including various influences and story decisions. And the Russo's and their writers do the same in Cap 2 and 3. Very, very insightful.

3) On the other hand, I think my stock is trending down for Iron Man 2 and 3. Jon Favreau admits that the way Tony discovers the new element in IM2 doesn't make much sense, but they wanted to tie it back to his father somehow. To me, that's disappointing. I don't want a filmmaker shrugging his shoulders like that at a film's turning point. And for Iron Man 3, I thought Shane Black and his cohort (writer or producer, can't remember) thought their story was a lot more profound than it actually was.

4) The Thor: the Dark World commentary is interesting because it's 50% Kevin Feige, 40% Tom Hiddleston and maybe 10% Alan Taylor, the actual director of the film. I thought it was telling how little he had to say about his own film. I know he's complained about studio meddling before, but I think that guy's just a spare. Emilia Clarke thinks so too. Also as I recall, they had to fly Joss Whedon in to fix the script and tell them to add more Loki, so... that guy's a spare.

5) It wasn't too off-putting, but James Gunn has kind of a cocky vibe in GotG2, which as a film I felt smelled its own farts a bit too much. There's a bit of "here's a funny joke I came up with here" and things like that. Watiti is full improv but Gunn is actually the opposite. It's interesting.

6) Joss Whedon sounds so defeated and burnt out at the start of the Age of Ultron commentary, and even mentions his shrink somewhere in there. Wtf

Anyway, tldr but there's a commentary recap for anyone who is interested. I'd definitely recommend it most for Ragnarok, Winter Soldier, Civil War and Black Panther. I'll have to check out the Infinity War and Ant-Man 2 commentaries before Endgame.

Infinity War has a bunch of the directors sitting around a table chatting. Nice commentaries on that one.

Yes and they actually have some interesting insights into how the film is structured - e.g. where the first second and third acts begin and why. How the cuts become increasingly frequent as the movie progresses, and how they balance the action scenes with the emotion scenes.

Another interesting thing on the IW commentary is how each scene has to say multiple things. An example being when Thor goes to nindelevir and it explains the gauntlet, the fall of the dwarves, and Thor 'earning' storm breaker. They have so much ground to cover, 6 macgiffins, and 21 characters that all need to get enough screen time. Therefore, there are no scenes that only serve one purpose.

A poster above said it earlier and I agre: Infinity War is a small miracle of a movie.

Fun note: the chanting the warriors do in Wakanda was adlibbed because Black Panther had not come out at the time they were filming IW. The directors had never heard/seen the chants but the actors started doing it themselves and it was so good they had to leave it in.

Infinity War hits Netflix today!!!

Interestingly, unless I'm reading too much into this, it hits Netflix quietly. It's not the front banner for me, it's not currently trending (although it would have hit this morning so maybe that's not enough time yet), it's not listed on recently added, it's not even recommended for me (even though it darn well should be based on my viewing history).
I wonder if Netflix is just putting it up there but not advertising it due to the Disney contract ending. It's also possible I just haven't given it enough time to work its way into the algorithms yet.

Same for me, which is odd because the other recent Marvel releases are pretty prominent in my feed (Ragnarok, GOTG2, etc). I had to search for the word "Infinity" to find it.

Just read an interesting thought on reddit. Since Scott is able to broadcast somehow from the quantum realm via some kind of radio device, is it possible that he would be able to control some nearby ants to come him hit the button to release him?
