In season 18, there's a glimpse of the former brilliance in an episode where Homer starts driving an ice cream truck. Marge is making sculptures out of the sticks and getting famous (boring) but Homer crashes the truck into the sculptures. Marge throws Homer out of the bedroom.

What follows is this scene, which made me laugh genuinely hard for about 5 minutes.

It's from Season 18, so there's still some good stuff to mine out of the newer seasons.

1. Lisa becomes a vegetarian; when they're watching that film and the narrator says, "Just ask this sciencetician" and dude looks up for like 2 seconds, I lose it everytime.

2. The play Bart writes in Bart of Darkness. Awesome.

I used to be a die-hard Simpsons P1, but its wavered over the years. I still have about 10 episodes left on my DVR from this Season that I haven't managed to get through this summer. I certainly don't watch the daily syndicated episodes anymore.

Last night I watched my first from the marathon (the one wear Bart declares war on Nelson) and I'd forgotten how much the animation had progressed over the last 25 years. And how much more mature the voices are now. It almost sounds like the cast is just doing bad impersonations of how Homer or Bart or Grandpa is supposed to sound.

Damn! Got them mixed-up. When Itchy kicks Bart out of the helicopter and says "When you get to hell, tell'em Itchy and Scratchy sent you!" that was hilarious too.

I started scrolling through the next couple of days and setting up favorites to record.

I realized that, starting Saturday at about 2pm, I am recording a helluva lot of episodes through Sunday night.

I don't think my DVR can handle it.

Yep. Same thing for me.

I'm lucky that my DVR was in pretty good shape before I started recording. I'm a little annoyed, I guess because they all have different titles that they aren't being put in one Simpsons group, but rather listed as individual episodes.

Big time first world problem.

I was having to decide between deleting A&M games from 2012 or skipping episodes. King Solomon had easier decisions to make.

I've got in my hip pocket that I've got about 10 episodes of agents of SHIELD that I can just dump. Obviously they aren't too much of a priority.

I'm going out of town this afternoon and am really hoping that my DVR doesn't fill up.

Selma's Choice is in my top 5. So many great lines and sight gags. Homer getting sick eating the giant sandwich, Troy McClure in the erotic adventures of Hercules, Selma's video dating submission (Argh! Back to the loch with you Nessie!), Duff Gardens...so much good stuff.

A lot of medical devices have a design that's called, "monorail" - when I went through training I was apparently singing "Monorail!" under my breath. I didn't realize it until the trainer finally stopped class one day saying, "who is DOING that?"

Maude: "We're talking about S-E-X in front of the C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N!"

Krusty: "SEX CAULDRON! I thought they closed that place years ago?!"

My fave episode is on at 1130.1030 AM today.
