That's a really heartwarming thread.

Taking my dad to see TFA on opening weekend was one of the most memorable movie-going experiences I've had. Family and nostalgia. It was wonderful.

SO FAR much better than Acolyte, Obi Wan, BoBF, Mando S3, Ahsoka.

Not even close to Andor and Mando S1, though.

Don't expect an adult themed show. This is clearly aimed at an audience similar to ET or Goonies.

Also, it's been pretty kid friendly so far for those wondering what age group is appropriate. I would say easily 6-7 yrs old is fine to watch. My oldest is 5 and even thought she could handle it. Some things that will go over their heads, and the only thing I saw is the pirate hideout that might be considered scary just because their big & mean.

Albeit I've only watched episodes 1 and 2 so far.

Last Jedi should have been parallel storytelling:
- current time: Rey's training with Luke, Kylo Ren discovers their location and shows up with knights of ren and kidnaps Rey after epic battle. Movie ends with Luke lifting x wing out of water and re-engaging with good guys

- past time: Tells story of Ben solo growing up. His draw to dark side. Luke's failure to save him. This story ends with Ben leaving his family for snoke. Han and leia split up. Luke leaves for Ireland island.



That would have been a great movie

I have to say that the alternative for TLJ suggested above would have, at the least, given me a trilogy that I would not have actively hated as I do, particularly TLJ and TROS. TFA hinted that Luke was this big threat and was the galaxy's savior (yet again) who was desperately needed. Then they castrated him.

The part about his failure with regard to his nephew worked as a reason for his disappearance. But having him grapple with that conflict and ultimately deciding to rejoin the battle would likely have been an epic ending to TLJ. It certainly would have been better than snow dogs and broom boy.

That switch described above with Kylo and Rey should absolutely have happened. Kylo renouncing the Dark Side while Rey embraces it would have thrown a massive monkey wrench into expectations.

If they really wanted to do the Palpatine story, they should've revealed it during last Jedi and planted some seeds for it in force awakens. That could've been an intriguing way to get her to turn if he was somehow able to manipulate it as a way to bring her parents back. (Which could have mirrored Anakin's turn to save padme)
