I'm not going to search this post to see if yall have discussed the video made by Jenny Nicholson about the Star Wars hotel that closed? It is a 4 hour video that's supposed to be very good. I've watched about 30 minutes so far and she's really entertaining

FOUR HOURS?

Does she give the personal data of every single person who worked at the hotel and criticizes their individual performance?

I'll update later. This girl is a fan so it isn't like the red letter media guy taking a **** on it, she's giving good, honest criticism and props when appropriate

It was posted a few pages ago. I can't see myself watching all 4 hours but did watch about 20 minutes of it. She generally seemed displeased with it which I found odd. It was probably a top 5 experience of my life. The cast members were outstanding, attention to detail was incredible, food was the best I've had at any place in Disney, and 90% of the guests were in cosplay the entire time. It was also a real cruise ship vibe. Lots of side activities that are not super intense but designed to just be fun breaks. Hell even the gift shop was for the Halcyon Galactic Starcruiser. There was no Star Wars labeled merch until you disembarked "back on earth" and they had a smaller stand set up.

Inside the park there was a whole set of activities to do based on the path you chose. Separate from the Bounty Hunter experiences most park guests could access. You were also given a pin to show that you were on the cruise so you could go back and forth. They had free cold waters and cool towels if you got too hot. Plus cast members inside the park were clearly trained on how to spot Starcruiser guests. We had some really cool interactions on rise of the resistance with a First Order CM because they noticed our pins. He pulled us out of line for an "interrogation" because he had heard reports of resistance members aboard the Halcyon. Around the park, almost every cast member we ran into acknowledged us and asked our cruise was going or what it was like on board. If you never left Galaxy's Edge, it really completed the experience.

A little side story. My dad an I were the only one's on the last transport "back to the ship" on our excursion day. Just before the doors closed, a cast member (in costume) ran up carrying a large crate. Breathless they said it was very important we take the crate back to the Halcyon. He said to hand it to the crew member on the Halcyon and they would know what to do. He said the resistance was counting on us to smuggle the crate aboard. He finished by saying "Ignite the Spark" to which we replied "Light the Fire" (a resistance call and response) and then dashed off into the alleyways of Batuu. We tried to open the crate but there was no obvious way to do so in the short trip back. When we arrived we explained what happened to the crew member and they whisked it away to another part of the ship. The crate itself ended up playing a pretty important part in the story line I was on later in the evening.

Was it expensive? Absolutely. But when you actually look at what went into it, I think it helps explain the price tag. This is not a visit every year kind of experience. It is a splurge for sure. I think one of the really difficult things is how to market the experience without giving away too much of it.

But have enough time for a 4 hour documentary about a closed hotel?

Not that I don't have time for BG, just lost interest. I probably won't watch this entire YouTube video either.

Superfan Sean Hayes using his powers of celebrity exactly the way I would. In the last 3 years, the Podcast has had:

Ridley
JJ Abrams
Liam Neeson
Ewan McGregor
Natalie Portman
Adam Driver
Rose Byrne
Simon Pegg
Pedro Pascal
Rian Johnson
Today I learned Rose Byrne is in Attack of the Clones.

After staying at the hotel, I wish there had been an option to purchase some of the towels or bedding. They were all embroidered with the Halcyon logo and pretty cool. They did let you take home the metal toiletry kit which now sits on my bookshelf in the office.

I've randomly run into a couple of cast members who worked at the hotel since it closed. We had some pretty good conversations about how they did things behind the scenes and boy were they dedicated. They basically lived an breathed Star Wars while working there. It wasn't uncommon for a character to have a script of 50+ pages for a "voyage" and they were constantly tweaking their own character's backstory. They would spend a lot of time researching where their character was from within the SW universe and come up with a story of how they ended up working on the Halcyon. Even little things like future aspirations for their the character. And that's just for the regular cast members, not the main named characters like Raithe Cole, Capt. Keevan, Gaya, Lt Croy, etc.

From the sound of it, they recruited some of the best cast members from all of Disney to work on the Starcruiser. The bartenders I spoke with were great too. They really knew their stuff and had a secret menu of drinks that they created outside of the standard ones. Fiery Mustafarian cocktail was one of my favorites. It came with a tube of "Lava Extract" that would make it extra spicy. The really wild thing was that the lava also had the effect of a warming sensation as you drank it. Like it felt like I was drinking a hot cup off coffee even though the drink was ice cold. It blew my mind much in the same way the buzz foam did on the Fuzzy Tauntaun at Oga's Cantina.

The buffet also had unlimited blue and green milk.

Not SW related but my son and I were sitting in traffic last year behind an Infiniti.

There was a number "2" decal in front of the "Infiniti" name on the rear door above the license plate. And the license plate was "N BYND".

I thought that was pretty cool/creative.

With the news of the Desantis/Disney fight finally coming to an end, and early talks of a fifth park already circulating, what are y'all's thoughts on what they should do with Star Wars in the new park, if anything?

If they were smart, they'd have a new area that took place in either the PT or the OT.

If it were my call, I would create a Coruscant area, similar to Diagon Alley at Universal. Bunch of cool looking buildings, in the bowels of the city, with some cool forced perspective skyscrapers in the background. Would look awesome at night, too.

You could have a bunch of diners, bars, and stores.

Set it during the time of Andor, which gives access to almost all major Star Wars characters except Luke and Leia.

You could have Vader walking around with his stormtroopers. Maybe Palpatine too.

You could have Han, Chewie, Obi-Wan, anyone from Andor, Rogue One, Rebels, etc. And all manner of bounty hunters and general alien scum.

Just spitballing, but this feels like it covers the best cross-section for the entire fandom, and it's different from the outer rim feel of Galaxy's Edge.

Oh a new park? Just make it all Star Wars, then we don't have to deal with scum of non-fans!

They really could do an entire park. Get five or six planets in there.

I don't know if a whole Star Wars park makes sense but I could see a larger thing than what they have now. Do a new shiny political Coruscant (kinda neutral), cold brutal Death Star (where you're one of the bad guys), then something rebel. The last one could be like the current Star Wars set up, or the Jungle base, or I dunno, the crazy river where yoda and the Wookies fought. Whatever. A few more rides, get Star Tours finally in with the other Star Wars stuff, and reclaim the other park spots for more Frozen crap or whatever.

I tried a few others as a "castle". Jabba's Palace, Jedi Temple, Naboo's palace. It didn't look right.

This is Disney Orlando. It's wall to wall fatties, I'm sure there's some with extra limbs.
