I'm 37, and I definitely relate MORE to Gen X than to Millennials.

I think part of is was I was the youngest in my family, including cousins. The other part is there is a segment of us Millenials who's parents were LATE adopters, so we still lived most of our childhood analog.

Example: almost all my friends in high school had text messaging and those Nokia phones, but I didn't have text messaging on my phone until college. So even my wife, who is just 2 years younger than me, thinks I text like an old person. I just never got into it.
I'm 29 and a millenial, so even though we may both be millenials, you're basically a boomer to me

This is how you label it.

Gen X prefers the original trilogy.
Gen Y likes the prequels because they have "better effects" my idiot nephew has said this.
If you prefer the sequels, get out.

Start a topic to get the generation geezers distracted.

Topic:

Grogu is one of the worst things to be added to the Star Wars canon.

He has almost no personality and serves as little more than a physical plot MacGuffin.

and go.

Nobody says this.

The prequels have a great story, with a well-planned and laid out three movie arc that looked all the better when compared to the sequels.

He is correct about the prequels.

The other poster's nephew is, well, that poster said what he is. The OT effects have always been the gold standard. The prequel effects are fine, as I'm not one who rolls out of bed every morning yapping about CGI and its overuse, but I do prefer actual miniatures and paintings and everything else they did in the OT.

The frustration with the timeline of the PT is all the best parts were off screen. Nothing of Anakin's training, none of his early meetings and relationship with Palpatine, and only 2-3 real Clone War battles. I would have loved to see Anakin's post-Tusken slipping to the Dark Side with Palps (Satan) whispering in his ear so that when he does turn on the Jedi it doesn't feel so out of nowhere. They could have really played up the dislike between mace and Anakin as well so that deciding to save Palps by disarming Windu was more believable.

But cest la vie. I won't pretend I didn't watch those movies and their trailers 50 billion times in my 20s and 30s.

This might only be funny in my head, but the second season of Ahsoka should start with Thrawn showing up to a meeting of Imperial warlords all chanting his name except Captain Pelleaon who does a sarcastic clap after they all stop and then having a piss fit about how Thrawn stopped calling him and how he really embarassed him all those times he didn't show up for the Shadow Council and made him look dumb in front of Moff GIdeon.

What I'd love to see from Ahsoka Season 2 is one-half being Ahsoka, Sabine, and ultimately Shin on a journey to whatever power Baylon was after, and either a redemption for Shin or a sacrifice by her, or even better, Sabine, which would allow Ahsoka to take on Shin as an apprentice.

The other half is all THrawn and the Imperials - politics, backstabbing, and him dealing with the Night Sisters. One of the consistent through points of Thrawn's story lines throughout the legends and cannon novels, along with Rebels, is that he does not trust anyone who can use the Force, ally or foe, and will seek out ways to where he can control them if need be - sort of like Batman having all the JL"s weak points plotted out.

In the original Heir to the Empire books, he had a biological counterpoint to the Dark Jedi he was allied with, and he kept Luke and Leia off the board. by hunting one and keeping the other occupied with the Dark Jedi. Will be interesting if that's something they keep up so it's just "the force wins".

So we still don't know what Gen Z thinks of Star Wars. That is okay.

I know the post about Grogu was a troll, but I kinda agree that Grogu as a plot device is over and Grogu as a character needs to be developed. I kinda hope Grogu becomes the Mandalore when all is said and done.

The Mandoverse and the Sequel trilogy don't really mesh well at this point. I can see them having Thrawn's defeat be the impetuous for the New Republic thinking the war was over and the Empire was defeated. But all the Jedi/Dark Jedi running around doesn't really jive the the sequel trilogy. But that may not matter.

If I called the shots:

Rey Movie 1: Rey builds Jedi academy/establish new villains. Rey and surviving Mando Jedi get together over the movie ready to face new villains.

Ahsoka S. 2/Mando S. 4/Mando & Grogu further establish Thrawn as a huge threat. Further Grogu's character arc. Further Mandalorian story. Provide a different view or hints about new villains

New Republic Movie: Epic Thrawn fight.

Rey movie 2: Further Rey's academy. Rey/Mando Force Users/Rey's students face a set back by new villains. One defects and joins new villains.

Rey Movie 3: Rey and company overcome movie 2 setback and win a victory. New Jedi/Force academy firmly established. New stories can be told as the students of the academy try to provide help to the galaxy.

Bonus points: Dawn of the Jedi movie establishes an order of force users that is torn apart in a civil war of those who adhere strongly to light and those you adhere more strongly to the dark. Needs a really strong character to lead the rebellion.

This conflict is what Baylan is seeking to understand as it is the source of the rift the force and why Jedi keep falling to the Dark Side.

Rey's new Jedi/Force Order tries to establish an order closer to what existed in Dawn of the Jedi before the Civil War, but modified with what lessons she learned of the light and the dark side of the force and through her force dyad. This ultimately what Anakin Skywalker did. He brought balance to the force by setting into motion the events that lead to a new order of force users who could use the force in balance, not tipped to the light or the dark.

What I really want is an extended sequence of a major battle where Thrawn just kicks the **** out of the New Republic with his military strategy. Really enjoyed him watching the battles strategically during Ahoska, that is so his book character.

I would also really love a plot twist where the NR and the imperial Remnant get interrupted in the arrival of the Yuhzn VOng, and have to join forces, but that is likely a bridge too far to dream of.

I won't hate that, but all this would occur before Episode 7. So there would have to put them on ice some how for Episodes 7-9 to happen.

Maybe they kidnap Ezra in the New Republic while everyone thinks he died in the battle? So it is more a small raider shows up during the big conflict and is unnoticed?

Are you just going to leap forward in time with Grogu and Mando? Rey, especially post sequels Rey, is decades ahead of The Mandalorian.

I think Grogu should ultimately become Mando and be a force user, but should go dark and be the villain in future movies. A dark side force and saber wielding gremlin in Mando armor is awesome sounding. Make his speech an eloquent dark bass as well (something like Benedict Cumberbatch)

I think there is about ~15 years gap?

I was advocating for Ahsoka S. 2/Mando S. 4/Mando & Grogu and New Republic to cover a large chunk of that time. The defeat of Thrawn being close to Episode 7 helps explain the complacency of the New Republic.

Then you need to end it in a way to have the Mando-verse characters sit out 7-9. I don't think Disney will kill all of these characters.

Then the Rey Movie syncs them back together.

I just want my spinning circle Avengers shot of Mando, Grogu, Ahoska, Bo Katan, Boba Fett ,and Luke Skywalker. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I'd like to see Grogu involved in some conflict and emote to Mando that he doesn't want that lifestyle, and the two of them go exploring the outer rim or the galaxy beyond to allow him to sit out 7-9. What to do with Ahsoka in that time is more complex. I can see her finding some sort of higher calling on the planet she's on at the end of Season 1 and returning there to have a real think about the Force.

I find it fairly annoying she's chummy with the New Republic in her season but not a single word about where she was during the OT other than vanished somewhere in the World Between Worlds.

I need a Gandalf beats the Balrog from TTT moment in Ahsoka Season 2 to square that away.

One of the Yuzhn Vong EU books has a 100% ripoff of Gandalf v Balrog with a misfit Jedi named Ganner Rhysode holding off a horde of monsters Evenr rips off the dialogue. "Bring on your monsters. One at a time or all at once. I don't give a damn. None shall pass."
