The Empire Strikes Back is currently airing on ABC here on the west coast, and I don't know if you guys are aware, but this is a phenomenal movie.
Seriously, though, it really does hit different, airing on broadcast TV, in Sunday night prime time, like the good old days. There's just something so communal about it, knowing hundreds of thousands of people are watching right now.
It's also presented in un-cropped, 2.35:1 widescreen, and still looks (and sounds) like a million bucks.

I think it was CBS that brought back Sunday night movies for a while during the pandemic. I thought it was pretty cool. Like you're saying, it just felt like a bit of an event for some reason. They aired some real gems like Raiders of the Lost Ark.
There's a VHS tape in my house somewhere of a CBS broadcast of Star Wars. Mark Hamill is wearing a tuxedo introducing the making-of documentary and the movie. I'm sure it's on YouTube somewhere.
Speaking of VHS stuff, I have in my storage locker a VHS set of Eps 4, 5 & 6 that were given to me as a teenager some time in the late 1980's. This would have been before Lucas started messing with everything. I've always wanted to have them converted to DVD or digital.
Some of the forensics in the comments would make this place proud.
