Does anyone think there is any chance the series will have younger-than-episode-1-Kenobi training at the temple?

That would be dope.

It's kind of crazy how dated the CGI on Jar Jar looks now.

The jump in quality of CGI between TPM and AOTC is pretty nuts. Hell even Coruscant doesn't look all that impressive in this one, you can tell the render distance is a hell of a lot shorter, and there's no wide establishing shots of the city, it's mostly seen in the background and through windows.

Liam Neeson is great in the movie. Dare I say underrated. He really carries the whole thing on his back.

Podrace still rocks. Darth Maul will never not be a badass.

Even at the time, the CGI in all the prequels wasn't impressive. It may have been the best available, but it wasn't great. Whenever there's a real life character or location, they stand out as superior.

You said all the prequels. The latter two looked great at the time.

Another problem with the prequel image quality is, I believe, the fact that AOTC and ROTS were shot digitally. And the cameras were only 1080p.

At least that's what I remember.

Yep, that is true. Lucas was being innovative at the time by being the first guy to do that before it became the norm, but sadly it means we can never get those in true 4K.

Funny thing is Spielberg used to criticize him for shooting digital, and now every time they see each other Lucas still busts his balls about the fact that even he shoots all his movies digitally now.

Anakin taking/eating the pear. Obi Wan holding newborn Luke. I'm sorry, but it ain't good.

The fact that the examples could've easily been filmed practically makes it that much more frustrating.

Again, kay.

My point was how much the CGI improved between 1999 and 2002, which is objective fact.

It did improve a lot (and got cheaper) but that led them to lean way too far into it. I just watched TPM and AotC and the former looks waaaaay better because of the practical effects. Everything about Clones looks like Mary Poppins with the live action characters interacting with the cartoons.

Yoda pulling out his lightsaber was awesome, and 15-18 year old me thought the fights were cool. Sometimes in my 20s it became pretty cringy though.

Yoda spinning and somersaulting like he was a character in the old Contra arcade game was terrible.

General Grievous, the droid with asthma, was terrible.

The dialogue in much of the prequels was terrible.

That being said, it's still better than the sequel trilogy.

Yoda: "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."

Also Yoda: "Grave danger I fear in his training."

I didn't love the execution of Grievous, but his interactions with Ewan were fun for me. "General Kenobi" in Grievous' voice is one of my favorite Star Wars lines.
