You and this list are crazy. Solo does not belong that low.

Why do people hate Solo so much? Did people just not like the actor playing Han?

It might actually be better than both the prequel and sequel trilogies.

I think it's a couple of things:

- Anti-TLJ people having anger bleed over into a completely unrelated project
- People got in a twist about what they perceive as SJW stuff with L3, which is actually a solid and funny bit
- To a lesser extent, many people don't "get" Star Wars that isn't part of the saga; you see this same thing crop up in discussion about The Mandalorian some

Solo is both a good movie, and a good Star Wars movie. I'm not saying anybody HAS to like it, but the above three reasons are what I've observed for the naked aggression against it in many cases.

I think this is my current ranking.

ESB is my clear, unassailable #1, and has been since I was a kid.

TFA and TLJ are hard to rank because I love them for very different reasons... TFA has so many great moments, while TLJ is really all about building to a single, masterfully great moment. I think they stick in the 3 and 4 spots, but they flip back and forth.

TROS may climb the ranking, as I've only seen it once so far.

Prequels are hard to rank, but are in a tier at the bottom.

Solo may have been "unnecessary " but it was good.

The prequels and sequels may have been "necessary " or at least could have added to the universe, but they were not good. They had their moments. But overall not good.

It boils down to being unnecessary. It added nothing of value to Han's character enough to justify its existence. That, and dumb, "prequel" type stuff like how he gets the name Solo, meeting Chewie, etc, which just feels super contrived and forced.

I get those criticisms, for sure, and it's why it's not a top-line movie for me. Having all of these critical elements to Han's history sorted out in two hours was a bit much. But the sequel trilogy was all completely unnecessary as well, so that's a tough line for me to draw.

I disagree that it didn't add anything, though. It did a good job of giving some context as to why Han is the way he is, which is all you can really ask of any prequel about an existing character.

I'm not going to rank TLJ. I'm going to give it the Rocky 5 treatment and just pretend it doesn't exist.

My wife got me an unopened Lot of star wars stuff for christmas that included original VHS tapes of empire and jedi, a comic book from 1977 and a han solo novel from 1979 among other things

Speaking of Solo, got this for Christmas this morning: the Enfys Nest Black Series figure with the swoop bike. Mentioned it in passing months ago when it came up on sale and my mom got it for me and stashed it until today. Looking forward to putting it up on my shelf at work to indimidate and impress my subordinates.

Need to add that to my nutcracker collection next year.
