the 2d imax in the town i am going to be in is a true imax dome.
I've never seen a theatrical release movie in an imax dome. are they shown differently than the movies made for imax? I can't imagine seeing a regular movie on a dome if it is projected with a 180 degree field of view.
Normally the web chappel imax theater in dallas is my screen of choice for imax showings of non-imax shot films.

Ha, trying to make a Thursday or Friday night showing after work is just too hard. Traffic will be insane no matter where I try to see it, and we're wrapping up a bunch of stuff at work this week that may require me to stay a bit later than usual. That, and group viewings are next to impossible on Thursday or Friday nights in LA. With people coming from all different parts of town, there's no way everyone can make a 7 or 8 PM showing post-work, and admittedly, I'm getting too damn old for 10 PM showings. I would rather let the anticipation build and see it Saturday afternoon with a group of friends, not be rushed, etc. Besides, Saturday late afternoon blockbusters are my absolute favorite time to see a huge, big budget movie for whatever reason.
I hear you. Gonna have to try to duck out of the office a bit early on Thursday to make it on time, even though it's a super busy time with an impending release we have in January. Actually a bit more worried about Wednesday night. Going to see Louis CK at the garden and I'm gonna have to figure out a good excuse for leaving the office 2 hours early.

Somehow I've managed to not attend an event at MSG in over 3 years living in NY. Now I've got this and then the Chili Peppers in February. Pumped.
