Part of me thinks she is aware and is on Jakku for a reason... how else would she know how to pilot the Falcon if she was just a girl from a waste planet (we know she pilots it per official pics and video). On the other hand, Luke was pretty much in the same boat as Rey and he had no problem jumping right into an X-Wing and destroying a "small moon".
I personally think they are playing the same card here like in A New Hope (which is becoming a theme for many parts of the movie)... I think she, like Luke, doesn't really know who she is... but she is just a natural at things like flying and can't really explain why..................................... but I know why, because she's a friggin Skywalker, that's why!
