We have no idea how sinister/badass "these off shoot f-cks" are. Plus, seems the best time to strike would be when Luke & co finally have their guard down, thinking the war is over.

sounds like the plot of truce at bakura along with the plot from the last long series of books with a planet full of Sith that had no idea the rest of the universe was around them because they didn't have the tech to go anywhere.

I think they were pretty on par with most of the EU quality wise, but its been a while.

I remember those couple of books. I thought they were pretty good. It goes into some of how Luke has gotten stronger in the force as of recently. It was neat. Read it when I was 15 though, so take with a grain of salt.

Fate of the Jedi involves Luke basically getting exiled from the New Republic for allowing Jacen Solo to turn into a bad guy. Luke and his son decide to take a road trip in his dead wife's ship in an attempt to figure out where Jacen Solo went bad - by means of traveling to all the places he went on his own "find myself" journey, and learn a bunch of the same Force techniques that he did, including a visit to Plo Koon's race of people.

Meanwhile, there's the Sith I mentioned, and some all-powerful entity called Abeloth lurking around that I really could never get a sense of. I never read the last 2 books or so because my kids were born premature and everything else sorta went out the window (and never came back in), but it has good moments and bad ones.

I didn't think they were up to par with the novels where Jacen Solo went Sith, but they were OK - Boba Fett is in a couple of them, even though he's about 450 years old at that point.

So he gets kidnapped after endor and they have him for 30 years?

Maybe it's like the comic of Dark Empire and he goes willingly.

That's the rumor as of now, and a pretty strong one at that. But it's obviously far from confirmed, and there will likely be plenty of caveats.

I don't know what Dark Empire is, but I'm definitely starting to think A) he either goes willingly, or B) he eventually comes to embrace whatever it is the Sith are doing. I think that may be one of the big surprises of the movie. Not that Luke fully goes to the Dark Side, but that he's "broken" in some form or fashion, and maybe even doesn't completely disagree with the Sith's big plan / way of thinking.

Dark Empire is a big graphic novel / comic book in which the Emperor had clones of himself - and his "essence" is able to transfer back to a new body out in the middle of nowhere.

He basically calls Luke to him. Luke begins to think that it's his destiny to replace his father, because Palps just seems too powerful, so he submits, does some pretty terrible things, but ultimately redeems himself, brought back to the light side by Leia.

Cloney Palps gets shot by Captain Solo when he tries to take over the body of baby Anakin Solo.

It was a big deal because it was rhe first major post ROTJ Star Wars comic book, but it had a lot of flaws.

that Luke saves the day at the end, but does so in a way that isn't very cool, like he's gone somewhat dark, was mentioned before.


If Luke encounters some sort of race that threatens to destroy the universe if he doesn't come with them, of course he would go with them.

On an unrelated but sort of related note, been seeing Adam Driver's mug featured prominently in the commercials for the new movie with Jason Bateman and Tina Fey. That guy definitely has an evil-looking fae, although I have no idea what role he's playing in Ep 7.

On the main forum, doesn't it show that a certain number of new posts have been added and if you click on that, it takes you immediately to the last post you read? Or is that a premium feature?

I think this is the number one complaint I've seen today. The hover feature sucks, and takes too long to appear. The great thing about the original version was that you could just glance real quick and see who the latest poster was, which was crucial. I had also installed the TexAgs Chrome extension where you could tag certain threads, and it told you how many posts had been added to that thread since your last refresh, which I can't live without now. Kind of going crazy without it. I thought for sure the new update would incorporate something like that, and I'm kind of shocked it didn't. I'm also surprised we still can't embed videos. On the Entertainment board, especially, that would have been awesome. Seems like that was available in other forums years ago, but that's no surprise.

I hate to gripe, though. I'm friends with Stewart, who headed this whole deal up, and I don't envy anyone trying to please all of TexAgs. As someone who's about to launch a website of my own, I know I'll get tons of gripes/critiques myself, so I can empathize. Overall, I appreciate the idea of what they're aiming for, and I really do like the vibe. I love empty white space, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but if they can just keep this general vibe, and lose some of the unnecessary spacing to where we don't have to scroll so damn much, and maybe re-implement a couple of old features (like viewable last poster), I think it'd be perfect. Hopefully they'll get there.

I'm pretty sure that a 2nd box to the left of the total number of replies will show up and tell you how many replies are new. It's in a darker gray box. At least, I see this on multiple threads I've replied to. Maybe you have to reply to the thread first? Or maybe it only works if you subscribe, idk.

It is not just subscribing. Even viewing a thread once and it will show you if new responses have happened.

What am i missing?

When i look at this thread... i see "2.2K" responses... then i see the eyeball with "71K" (indicating 71K views)... below that is "last 15m"... and hovering over that tells me "lost post by ..."

Where does it tell me the new responses?

I think it's just a subscriber feature. I gotta say, it's pretty nice.



The green bar means I haven't read that thread. The darker grey two means there have been two responses since I read Philo's thread.
