Ahsoka trailer was fine. Looks like there will be at least some action. Here's a thing I want from shows/movies like this. When the Republic soldiers are preparing for an invasion, how about the first one down the hallway not be a scared looking kid who dies in under a second? Give me the Kara Dunne styled marine that mercs 20 invaders before being overrun.

My final thought after watching the trailer was "I hope it's not boring." Additional thoughts - I'm good with seeing some more Anakin and I'm glad Ahsoka is going to get called out about if she's a Jedi or not. Finally, maybe they took 4 years off so we can get over the stupid decision to give Sabine the force. lol

Re: the third tweet, The Hunt for Ben Solo is a passion project for Driver. He really wanted to make it, and was apparently pissed when Iger said no. Also, Driver has been in talks with Feige for multiple Marvel projects over the years, but none of them ever felt right to Driver (or perhaps didn't pay enough). So, the speculation is that, with Iger now gone, maybe Feige, with all of his power, said you do X-Men for us (Driver was announced last night as playing Mr. Sinister), I'll help you get The Hunt for Ben Solo made under the new regime. True? Who knows, but it's a decent theory. Either that or Disney straight up said, do X-Men for us and we'll make The Hunt for Ben Solo.

Re: the last tweet, Driver couldn't be at D23 in person last night for the X-Men cast reveal, and instead filmed a bit from an empty soundstage at Pinewoods Studios in the UK... where Ahsoka season two filmed and also where Secret Wars is about to film, so the rumor mill is of course running rampant, on multiple fronts.

And now this other video/interview excerpt has surfaced, in which Filoni saying "here" to mean D23, followed by, "All I can tell you." In other words, there *is* something to say, it's just not going to be said at D23 2026.

Yeah, this movie is 100% getting made...

The story of young Ben Solo becoming Kylo in the comics is interesting but incomplete. Since they have him being fairly young in the TLJ flashbacks to his falling out with Luke, just slightly de-aging him and using a younger actor for a bit - would let them tell a great story, although they'd have to decide if they're going to go fullly deaged Han and Luke - and what to do with Leia.

Anyone who doesn't love that trailer straight up sucks.

I just watched The Mandalorian and Grogu on streaming and thought it was boring AF. I'll be going into this one with lowered expectations.

Wow. I forgot Mandalorian and Grogu even existed. I'm sure I'll watch it at sometime, but not in any hurry.

You're not missing anything. Wait until it is free to watch. It just feels like a long show episode, but with Sigourney Weaver added to the mix. She doesn't bring anything to the table in this movie. Her character is boring. The whole thing felt like I was watching someone play a Mandalorian video game where you're going to different places to complete another mission. Nothing really deepened the Mandalorian/Grogu story or made me really care about it.

I am watching that movie for the first time since seeing it in the theater. It is basically Star Wars by numbers, checking things off a list, kind of movie. I am not real engaged with it even with a few neat sequences peppered throughout. The voice of the fighter Hutt is incredibly distracting.

I agree about the voice.

The one thing going for the movie was Grogu having a solid chunk of time being fairly self sufficient and getting by on his own.

This sounds/feels about right, but who knows…

Quote:

For what it's worth, [here's] why we think Dave Filoni was coy about THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO on #D23 and why we think the movie will be made (although not in the way people think)….

Simon Kinberg's upcoming trilogy went into development after the New Jedi Order movie starring Daisy Ridley and Shawn Levy's Starfighter went into development. However, based on comments made by Kathleen Kennedy and a recent social media post by Kinberg, it seems his new "saga" movies are further along in development and more of a priority than New Jedi Order, which has been very quiet in recent years.

The next Star Wars movie is Starfighter, which takes place 5 years after The Rise of Skywalker and would serve as the perfect bridge to Kinberg's saga, heavily rumored to be Episodes X-XII.

If we were predicting the future of these projects, we'd say that characters and plot threads from New Jedi Order and The Hunt for Ben Solo will be woven in Kinberg's Episodes X-XII. This would mean that, although New Jedi Order and The Hunt for Ben Solo would ultimately not be made and released as initially conceived, we'd still get the next chapter of Rey and Kylo Ren's story.

Looking ahead even further, we predict that Episodes X-XII will be officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2027. What better way to commemorate the 50th anniversary of George Lucas' original film than announcing a continuation of the main saga at a celebration full of the most passionate Star Wars fans in the world.

As I've mentioned before, I think Gosling is likely delivering the kid to Rey's Jedi Academy, Rey will then cameo at the very end, thus setting up the next trilogy.

The only question is, where would this scenario leave Steven Soderbergh (the writer/director of The Hunt for Ben Solo, who is almost assuredly a huge draw for Driver)? Would he direct one of the trilogy movies instead? Would be incredible if so.

Ugh. I really hope a new sequel sequel trilogy isn't next in the pipeline.

Simon Kinberg was announced as the writer/producer of the next trilogy back in November 2024, so this has been a thing / in development for a while now. I'm not the biggest Kinberg fan, but at least they're planning (and possibly writing) the next trilogy all at once, it's one person's vision from beginning to end, etc. And if it is indeed the next thing in the pipeline after Starfighter, we're talking 2028 at the earliest, if not 2029, which would be 9/10 years after Episode IX, which feels like a reasonable gap between trilogies, if not far more than I was personally expecting. We shall see, though.

I really don't either, and it surprises me to consider it. I wish Disney would just recast Luke and give us something early in his rebuild of the Jedi. The problem is they would likely just carbon copy Ben Solo as an Episode 2 Anakin, which would be awful.

I've already written the next 9 Star Wars movies, but Filoni stopped taking my calls.

Episodes 6.1-8.9: The real Thrawn trilogy with Thrawn, Jor'uus C'baoth, Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, Captain Pealleaon, Rukh, and all the rest. Find the most smoking hot red-head 25-30 year old actress alive to play Mar Jade and make Star Wars great again in the spirit of 4-6 Carrie Fisher and 1-3 Natalie Portman.

The KOTOR trilogy:
KOTOR 1: Full-on Jedi vs. Mandalorian war
KOTOR 2: Revan and Malak disappear into the Sith Empire, come back with the massive fleet and the Star Forge, cliffhanger ending as (spoiler alert) Malak betrays Revan and leaves him for dead.
KOTOR 3: The events of the game.

Ben Solo Trilogy
1. Half some kid actor who plays young Ben Solo; Leia denies him training as a Jedi because of the vision discussed in Episode IX. He ends up traveling with Han a lot, then stumbles on the truth about Vader being his PeePaw and starts to explore the Force on his own, ultimately encountering Snoke someway / somehow.

2. Leia feels the darkness rising in him, sends him to Uncle Luke for training, the whole movie is top-tier Luke and rising force Ben, but about 20 minutes in we time jump to Ben being the age he is in the flashback in Episode IX. They have an encounter with the Knights of Ren (per the comic book) and he taps into that dark side power, and damn does it feel grand. In the last half an hour, he confronts Luke (maybe Leia too) about Vader, they lie, then he burns them with knowing the truth. Luke goes to talk to him that night, does that Force deal where he senses Kylo will destroy worlds, and the whole burning down the Temple happens, with Kylo recruiting a few of his friends to come with.

3. The actual "Hunt for Ben Solo" - Luke / Han/ whomever desperately trying to find him while he is being indoctrinated into the Dark Side, re-encounters the Knights of Ren, defeats them all, bends them to his will, takes the name, feels like a big shot, only to realize he's as much a pawn to Snoke as Vader once was to Palpatine, and all Snoke really wants is to use him to find and kill Luke.

Rosario Dawson, Hayden, and the guy who plays Ezra talk Ahsoka Season 2.
Wanted them to ask Ezra how comfortable he was kissing Zendaya in front of her actual husband while filming Spiderman 4.
