It's so crazy to see Disney go from a company that could seemingly do no wrong while I was growing up to one that seems to bungle everything they touch these days.

Can they at least do ESB special edition in the theater?

That movie is objectively an improvement for all the stuff they added for Cloud City. Seeing the clouds through the windows is much better than white windowless hallways.

I hope they do.

I have long thought that 90% of what was added in the special editions was a legit improvement, most particularly the windowed walls and other Cloud City exterior shots. But they get shat upon because of the Han/Greedo sequence, the singers in Jabba's court, and arguably the Han/Jabba sequence that just never looked quite right.

how dare you leave out the changing of Yub Nub!!!!!

I hope they asked some outside parties for their opinion on this. Agree some of the changes were for the better and others were just gratuitous CGI slop.

Empire's special edition is definitely the one that is least hurt, but there is one inexplicable line change that kills me. It is when Luke first crashes on Dagobah, and R2 is swallowed, then spit out, by a swamp monster.

Luke's original line is, "You're lucky you don't taste too good." For some reason, the special edition uses the super boring, "You were lucky to get out of there."

It takes me out of the movie every time because why would you use a less interesting line?

Yes, that is a really odd decision. Same as with Vader's shuttle line. Why would someone make those changes?

Agree on both of those unneeded changes, especially Vader's bring my shuttle line sequence intercut with the rescue of Luke hanging on a weather vane beneath Cloud City.

Yub nub and the Ewoks have needed to be killed with fire since 25-May-1983. The celebration shots from across the galaxy were a superior conclusion to ROTJ.

Celebration already sucked hard. It sucks even more now that, somehow, Palpatine returned.

Yub Nub forever!!

Also, Sebastian Shaw as the force ghost instead of Hayden.

Yes, this and changing Vader's "bring my shuttle", which is the most badass he ever sounds in the OT.

Inexplicable.

I gotta be that guy but Yub Nub is trash and Celebration is much more in tone for an epic saga finale.

Edit: I see I'm not alone in my opinion.

They're both awful but at least one is the original.

You're one of my favorable E Board posters, we have a lot of similar tastes, but you're dead wrong on this.

I posted this before in this thread somewhere years ago and I'll stick with it:

Listening to Yub Nub is like hearing the voices of a thousand Angels singing a sweet lullaby. Hearing Victory Celebration is like hearing Hitler sing about cigarettes and diarrhea.

Agreed. I prefer Yub Nub well over the change.

That is what they call nostalgia goggles. Or in this case headphones.

Yup Nub is a fun song. I think it's in the spirit of how people will get rowdy and throw a party after a decisive victory.

The rest of the galaxy stuff doesn't fit in the timeline of the movie, for me.

Fwiw, I ordered that lego gingerbread AT-AT as a backorder when I saw it in this thread. It came in this week. Also, holy cow it was fun kicking LSU's teeth in.

It actually makes perfect sense considering ROTJ is the conclusion to two trilogies.

Could there be a possibility that part of the restoration project could be a 50th anniversary showing at the Sphere in Vegas? Saw that rumor bouncing on the web recently.

That would be incredible but I'm not paying what I paid to see U2 for it.

Will we get Jason Wingreen as Boba Fett's voice in Empire or Temuera Morrison?

Wingreen sounds like a cold-blooded killer. Morrison sounds like he's reading his script for the first time.

It's a Lego exclusive currently so is a reseller on marketplace for Walmart. It won't take that long for Lego.com. Mine shipped today and said it would be 60 days.

Re: Lego. What's with the pricing and waits with this stuff? Can they not meet demand, or are they artificially limiting supply?

The pricing on this stuff is insane.

Or at least for release in those ambient dome theaters

Pricing on much of it aligns with inflation compared to when we were kids. That plus Disney tax etc.

I'm likely older than you, but I don't remember that many specialized Lego sets when I was a kid. There were a few generalized sets, like rockets and astronauts, but I just had a huge tub of various sizes and colors that I was free to make whatever the **** my imagination told me to make.

I have a feeling the exhorbitant price of these Lego sets today is due to the same factor that you see in comics, comic book movies, etc....the kids that grew up on these things are now adults who are not only buying them for their kids but for themselves as well. Lego knows this and is pricing them accordingly for these "big kids" who'll shell out $200.
sburg2007
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm 40. None of my sets as kids were IP. I had classic space, city, some castle, then other themes Lego came up with. There are still plenty of those to go around. Friends, ninjago, city, dreamzz etc.

There is a ton of IP that kids and adults enjoy. Lego hit that nostalgia button for some of us olds. I have disposable income and I spent $150 on a big ass Delorean for myself. I also have kids they build sets of all types then tear em apart and build random ass ***** They have done a good job hitting all of the market. Plenty of big outlandish sets like the $1000 death star or $800 falcon but my 6 year old has a $5 falcon with the at te he made from random parts.

I miss the old space and castle sets.
