Already noticed tea sip logos on drilling equipment… Nauseating…

they went with the old iconic theme to start the show (smart) but didn't show any of the faces and the credits looked a lil amateurish.

but the show has been a lil better than i expected so far.

What bar was that?

Saw the t-sip logo on drilling well too. BLECH. Other than that so far so good.

Recognize the scenery and the roads around Southfork...been around there so many times.

I love it! I think the guy they got to play John Ross is spot on! Very unlikable.

It is good that they have all the old people in it. I guess if they didn't, then it would not last very long.

The previews made the show look like it will be terrible.

That was actually good. I'll be tuning in next week as well. Hope it can stay strong.

I think that was the point...he has JR's ambition, but still has a lot to learn about how to get what he wants. I like the character better this way rather than just being a JR clone.

I know its supposed to be a "drama", but I thought the show was trying to be way too melodramatic. The one thing I appreciate about Mad Men and Breaking Bad is that they throw in a little comedic relief here and there.

I am enjoying it. Larry Hageman in still fantastic in his role of Jr. John Ross does have the same ambition as JR, but still has a lot to learn... and it looks like he is going to learn his lessons the hard way as JR does not seem ready to give up on oil and Southfork anytime soon.

Bobby is as fantastic as ever, but is anyone else worried that they are going to kill him off via the cancer, then come back a season or two later just to find him taking a shower?

Didn't really watch it, but I did notice something funny:

The actress who played the first Marta on "Arrested Development" was on the show......as a character named Marta.

I noticed the eyebrows too. No one in makeup thought maybe a trim was in order?

And I never watched the first go-round, so I really don't know who everyone is besides JR and Bobby. It makes it a little more interesting, I think. I've always liked the woman who is playing Bobby's wife, as well, and Chris is nice eye candy.

Charlene Tilton has not aged well ... and she was the youngest person in the original cast.

The wife and I enjoyed it enough to start recording it. We were both in junior high when the original first aired and have lots of memories of watching the old show.

I did have a problem suspending belief about the oil under Southfork though. I am no geologist and I have no idea how big Southfork is supposed to be, but wouldn't it be highly unlikely that 2 billion barrels of oil would be underground there without someone already knowing about it? That's a lot of oil (about 10% of all the proven reserves in the US today). That would fetch about $160B - $180B on the open market at today's prices.

This is the most guilty of guilty pleasures but of all things I bought a JR Ewing t-shirt on line last week. I completely forgot that they were rebooting the series this week.

This show was soooooo bad...but I'll keep watching.

the plot hole with the oil under Southfork was one i immediately noticed as well. the producers severely dropped the ball with that one.

another plot hole for people who watched the old series is that Christopher Ewing should not be hurting for money. his grandpa Jock Ewing created a $10M trust for him in the old series, his mom Pam Ewing left him a crap load of money in the millions and millions, and his grandmother from his mom's side also left him a crap load of money. Christopher should be worth way more than John Ross just by how many inheritances he's tied to.

First bar was Adair's. Can't remember the name of the second one, but it's by South Side on Lamar by the police station.

I enjoy the hell out of trash tv, but I'll say exactly the same thing I said about early eps of Revenge- not trashy/snarky/fun enough to be entertaining, and certainly not "good", so it just comes out kind of blah. Revenge figured out the guilty pleasure tone out with time, maybe this can do the same.

That ending of the first episode in Cowboy's stadium was infuriatingly dumb- there was no point except for "look, we are shooting in Dallas and not on an LA soundstage". I haven't seen the original, so unless that was some kind of original pilot homage (and it would have been a poorly done one), it was just annoying.

I loved these episodes. I plan to watch them again, Hagman was excellent.

How do actors NOT fix their teeth? (Sue Ellen) I cant stand seeing nasty crooked yellow/coffeed teeth on shows. There is just no excuse.

bro..some of these people are like pretty old. lets cut em some slack.

Definitely hokey, but enjoyable nonetheless.

You'd assume rich Dallas people could afford veneers.

I never watched the original, but after seeing the first episode of the new Dallas and examining the summer t.v. lineup I set my DVR to keep recording it.
