Lots of powerful images have been conveyed in film, Im a personal fan of propaganda films. Post your favorites screen shots:

Metropolis

Ivan the Terrible

October

I couldnt find the better image of Lenin where he is in the bottom left corner of the aspect, hunched over yelling at the crowds below and the flag makes a huge-effin "V" on the screen with the flag tearing through 20mph wind. I hate commies but something about that framing pulls at ya.

Good pick from Metropolis. That film was way ahead of it's time.

A lot of older movies in here. Here's a more recent one that always stuck with me. Say what you want about the movie, but the final shot/image is really lasting:

Easily my biggest film memory. I was 5 when I first saw this fill up the entire screen. The sheer magnitude of this Star Destroyer with the accompanying rumble from the speakers literally blew me away. Never had I seen anything as awesome or as powerful as this image.

Quad dog beat me to it.

Many in Lawrence of Arabia

The shot of the sun coming up upon his arrival is also iconic.

The music helps a little too.

Holding all four horses in the frame dead-on is iconic. (Hold this image 6-inches away from your nose) Definitely the presence of a strong wielding force, perfectly symmetrical and potent.

Then you have this gem:

The side view of the epic struggle between good and evil. Evil ahead and good struggling to overcome. Its the original archetype captured in one image.

(Granted there are frames with all 8 horses and 2 chariots running even from a birds-eye view but you dont get the forward thrusting image of one side pulling ahead, inching for a nose)

Gary Cooper in High Noon

Essentially a man alone, abandoned by his friends, unaided by the people he serves and protects, going against a force too great. Questions of cowardice and self-preservation versus duty and integrity.

AgnCS. That scene really gets to me when I watch that movie. The utter desperation and desire for survival...
