$6 for two tickets to any movie I want. All in the comfort of my own home. I don't go to the movies because I can watch all the crappy movies that come out a few months after they are released for about 1/5 the price.

A two-hour experience that many, many people poured months of hard work into isn't worth $8?

What's at question is the end product. I really don't care how many people worked on it or for how long. Now $8 for a couple hours of good entertainment is ok, there just isn't a lot I would consider "good".

Name another legitimate two-hour entertainment option that's anywhere close to $8.

Computer/Video Games.

$50-$60 for most game, but divide that by the number of hours you'll play it.

$8/2 = $4 per hour

How many hours do the Millenials in their room at mom's house spend playing Call of Duty? They'll play that game for at least 100 hours (probably in 2 weeks).

I'd assume the OP was referring to a social event as opposed to a stay at home option.

Though "the Millenials" apparently have quite the deal going there.

It has to cost next to nothing to number each seat and upgrade your website with seat selection. There is absolutely no down side to doing this and it's insanely convenient.

Unless you live in a city as theo'd as Houston.

And people under 30 have no clue of the value of money since there's been so much of it in circulation in the last 10 or so years since the Gov. printed so much of it as to make it meaningless.

Yeah, everything was 'cheaper' in the old days, but really if you factor in the value of the $ today vs 1990 or so it's not that much to see a movie. But it still pisses me off to pay $10 to see a movie (again, it's all relative. When I was in HS matinee was like $3!).

Star Village in Lake Worth is uber cheap. I think we pay 7 bucks for non-matinee and they have digital projection. Hands down my favorite theater in the DFW area.
Star Village was our go-to theater in high school because of the affordability and because it was the closest, but even as stupid high school kids we knew it kind of sucked. If we wanted a good movie experience we went downtown or to the Rave, even though they were more expensive. Has it improved at all? (havent been there since 06)
