Meat Puppets. I had heard of them on the Nirvana Unplugged album, but didn't listen to them until about 5 years ago.

I think hanging out at Duddley's got me into the Flaming Lips more than anything else.

All I knew about them up to that point was Vaseline.

I took it to mean "discover their brilliance"

And I forgot to add A Tribe Called Quest to my list.

The Black Crowes. Technically, I had a CD before 20 (SHMC), and knew H2H and STTA, but I didn't really discover until after 20, and then went full-on in 2005 with the discovery of unreleased stuff and bootlegs.

Now my favorite band.

Also, the Faces (courtesy of Black Crowes covering them). Never heard of them before 2005, and thought Rod Stewart only put out crappy 80's stuff. Loosest rock and roll I've heard. Good stuff.

"Glad And Sorry" is one of my favorite covers of theirs.

Before the Crowes got back together again, New Earth Mud had a great cover of Gram Parson's "Sin City" on their website.

Ben Folds for me. I probably heard their stuff growing up but never really paid much attention to it until college.

Steely Dan and New Order. I was about 23 when I discovered each of them. So glad I did!
