I still play that first Poi Dog cd quite a bit. Great album, sorry to say I never saw them live.

Lyle Lovett's Bonfire benefit concert, spring 2000

I was a huge REK fan before this concert and I became a bigger Lyle Lovett fan after it.

Best: Better than Ezra at Rodeo 2000.

Worst: Tim Reynolds at Rudder.

Weirdest: Run DMC, Vanilla Ice, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff and REK at Wolfpen.

I remember that Fishbone show. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones opened for them. It was a great show. Too bad the fire marshall canceled the GWAR show that was suppossed to be at Stafford. That had potential.

best I didn't see because I had a test was a thursday night Nixons show at the tap. I think it was 99 or 00 and it was one of their last shows

You didn't miss all that much. The place was exceptionally grimey that night, and the music just wasn't great (I was never a huge Nixons fan). One memorable part, though, was when the bass player stood up on his amp, popped out a ceiling tile, and played with his head in the ceiling for a couple songs.

Matchbox 20 put on a hell of a show at Reed in 2000, I think. There opening band, The Jayhawks, was absolutely horrible, however.

I'll throw my vote in for the 2001 Toadies concert. I too was on the left side and am quite sure that I suffered permenant hearing loss from that show....so worth it.

Wasn't that the show when one of their members was arrested by the famed CSPD for drug use or public intoxication? As a recall the main part of the show was over and they were "recovering" backstage and then when it was time for the encore there was somebody missing and the lead singer was like "Your fabulous poh-leece department just rounded up one of our bandmates...they suck!!!" Hilarious!

Nixons a few times at Dixie Theatre...96ish. Live at Rudder in 99.

I definitely remember something about the CSPD during the encore.

Besides Toadies, I also saw Chris Duarte, and Live during my time in College Station. I'm not counting the numerous country acts that I saw because I'm not a huge fan.

Biggest regret, skipping a chance to see one of Tripping Daisy's last shows.

Anybody remember any good shows at Rudder? They were always kind of wierd since you had seats. Tori Amos was cool in that venue while Cake would have done better in a small club.

And I remember seeing Tripping Daisy at Stafford - good times.

George Strait at The Pavillions Arena around ~83.

REM at G Rollie - even though they ragged on The Corps guys in uniform throughout the show.

Indigo Girls at Deware - Some interesting groupie women at that show...

REK at WP when Lyle Lovett (and Julia) showed up and he sang Front Porch Song with REK

davis allen cole at wolf pen, 96-97 maybe. i remember it took him so long to get out of his trailer we wer all f'ed up before we left. what made it fun was it was like a big party before he played so i met alot of people which otherwise woul dhve just listened to music beside eachother.

I think we must have inverse tastes in music.

Best I've seen was the "No Quarter" Led Zeppelin tribute band from Seattle at the Tap. Awesome show.

I'll play...I'll show my age.

I'd have to say Tripping Daisy in the mid to late 90's and the Nixons.

I suck.

There was a great Texas blues band from Houston we used to see at the Dixie Theatre called "Sunset Heights." Used to jam some great Hendrix tunes too.

Pushmonkey and Vallejo were always great there as well.

Ian Moore always rocked.

Saw Jason Bonham play a Led Zeppelin tribute show at The Tap, that was awesome!

Gin Blossoms actually played a show before then. It was just before first single hit big. They played a set on sidewalk near Rudder. There used to be some odd sculptures of body builders without heads. That's where they played.

Then they went into MSC and drank coffee and smoked cigs. I talked to them for about 10 minutes and they were pretty nice guys. Seemed interested in A&M and knew about 12th Man and other traditions.

The Killer B's at a whole lotta different places.

Also does anyone remember a band called Blue Earth (I think)? They played at the Crooked Path a lot in like 96-98. I thought they were really good.

And "Last Free Exit" were pretty good to see areound then as well.

Honorable mentions go to Jerry Jeff (although he always looked really pissed off) and Cory Morrow.

Tanya - Elspank beat me to it -- I remember the Fishbone show at Stafford mostly for the Bosstones opening for them.

Some of the other memorable shows -- Sneaky Pete weekly at the Flying Tomato

Joe King Carrasco all over town

Suprised no one has mentioned any of those Ramones shows at East Gate Live.
